TRY AGAIN, MR. PRESIDENT -- THOSE WERE EMPTY WORDS [The Presidnet's Amnesty Program]
Neal Boortz ^ | Nov. 29, 2005 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 11/29/2005 5:25:04 AM PST by conservativecorner

Yesterday, George W. Bush strode to a podium in Tucson, Arizona (I love Tucson!) and against a backdrop of law enforcement officers, announced his latest plan to crack down on illegal aliens. There was nothing in his speech we haven't heard before, and his new immigration policy is just as contradictory as the old one. Among the initiatives announced:

We should build more jail cells to hold illegal aliens. Good idea. The speeding up of deportations, a crackdown on fraudulent identity papers, and a hardening of the border with more surveillance. So far, so good. Then the nonsense started to flow. The president urged Congress to pass his guest-worker amnesty program and repeated the nonsense that the illegal aliens are here "to fill jobs that Americans will not do."

Same old, same old. It is impossible to stand there and say you're going to crack down on illegal immigration while at the same time say that you are going to reward people who broke our immigration laws. The president says it's not amnesty. Ok, now we've finally caught the president in a lie. OF COURSE it's amnesty! When you tell someone who has broken the law that you are not only going to ignore their illegal conduct, but you are actually going to reward them for it, then you have more than plain old garden variety amnesty, you have amnesty with perks!

As for the oft-repeated line that the illegal aliens fill jobs Americans won't, that's also a load. Companies may not be able to fill those jobs with Americans at the same low wages they pay Mexicans, but there are plenty of people in this country that would do the work at the right price. OK .. so the price of headless chickens, landscaping and construction might go up, but at least the people receiving those paychecks would be law-abiding residents of this country, most of whom would be citizens. There is something wrong with the idea of celebrating lower home prices when those lower prices are brought with disrespect for the laws of our country. It gets worse than that. We are threatening our very security by singing the praises of illegal aliens in our workforce. Just two weeks ago we were interviewing a Texas congressman who was telling us that U.S. intelligence agencies have knowledge that Al Qaeda terrorists have moved to Mexico, adopted Hispanic identities, learned the Spanish language, and then moved right into the United States across our porous borders.

George Bush failed to address the problem appropriately yesterday, but this isn't strictly a George Bush issue. There is absolutely no willingness on the part of either political party to crack down on illegal immigration. There are simply too many votes to be had in the Hispanic community. So as a result, our security as a nation is threatened and our cities and states are overrun with illegal aliens.

I'm sure representatives of Al-Qaeda are preparing to apply for their guest-worker permits as we speak.

Are you saying those are the ONLY guys - or even a MAJORITY?

From the mexicns I've met that I have suspected as being illegal, they're close to 100% of the hardworkers. That doesn't say statisticallly anything about the whole population, but it makes sense to me that it's representative.

Of the liberals I've met, close to 100% are America hating bigots. That doesn't say statisticallly anything about the whole population of liberals either, but it makes sense to me that it's representative.

You were making sense until you inserted this hyperbole. I know FOR A FACT the number isn't any larger than 67%.

That flag is "ours," inclusive. Not just "yours."

"Betcha I'm part of the majority on this forum who are tried of being flamed when we try to discuss this issue and to find a solution"

Well, when you take the side of the illegal immigrants you should expect to be flamed. Look at the poll.

All I can say on illegal immigration, is the following: Just like in New Orleans, what did they do before pumping the water out?... That's right! They closed the leaves (real smart, huh?). Illegal Immigration is not different, so whatever the president has in mind, the first condition for fixing the problem is closing, securing the border!!! - building a wall if they must to - but no one should be able to enter the country but through legal channels. The idea that it's just "too difficult" to secure the border is nothing but bunk!.... if the minuteman, were able to make a difference, the Federal Government with all its technological might, should be able to do it. Once the Mexicans, and this is what we are talking about really, see the US means business.... you will see a decrease in people trying to cross the border.

Once the border is secured, or at least on paper, ready to be implemented, then can look at we have here in the country.... and that is anyone's guess. Many, many things can be done... This will be subject that will be discussed by everyone, and one that yes, it has POLITICAL implications, and we all know what happens when politics are involved!... and the Republicans better play this card very carefully. Because you can be sure the Rats, will play this one to their advantage. But again.... this is just wide open for discussion. And another thing we want to remind everyone, I am a Hispanic, a conservative Hispanic and US citizen. Don't be so quick to blame poor people that for the most part want to do jobs Americans don't want to do. True, some of them want even better than that, construction?.... landscaping... ? just remember that if the government wanted to do something about it, really, they would put the screws on the businesses who hire them! - This would take care of it. Instead, just like the president for the past 5 years, they pussyfoot around and basically look the other way and do nothing. And as we all know, politicians can be bought!... not it's not surprised to me that nothing has really happened since 9/11, when the borders should have been secured if nothng else for fear of an attack

If they are hiring significant numbers of illegal immigrants it should be easy to prove.

However, criminal investigation and law enforcement isn't the responsibiliy of those companies, it's the responsibility of the government.

The companies have a duty to make a reasonable attemt to determine someone's employability. However, if they have a driverslicens and SSN, then it's the government that is failing in their duty, not the employer. Investigating employess beyond a reasonable check is an invasion of privacy and likely violates employment laws.

Employers need to be held accountable if they are purposfully hiring illegal immigrants, but it's the government that in most cases has the information and authority to investigate illegal employees. The IRS is especially well equipped since they receive the payments to these bogus SSNs, yet they don't investigate.

What is their opinion on the illegal swarm that comes boiling like locusts, day after day, across a largely undefended border?

You off your meds? I live 30 miles from the border and I have yet to see a swarm of anything. Those of mexican heritage in this area are far easier to live around than the urban areas of other cities I have lived in. They are decent people who care for their families and work hard.

If you want to stop illegal immigration, just enforce the existing laws against hiring illegals. Support the death penalty for employers if you wish. Cut off the California public assistance thru the Emergency Room and other programs. That and only that will stop the majority.

No president is ever going to drive through a neighborhood with an army of buses rounding up exisiting illegals. I know it sounds great but the political press around the world would be devastating. THAT is the reality regardless of the legality.

So what do you do with those here already?

1. fine them
2. require them to be fluent in english and atleast a high school equiv. exam within 5 years.
3. tax any money they send out of the country, (to pay for the taxes they didnt pay while here)
4. Forbid them from sponsoring anyone for citizenship for 7 years
5. If they are arrested for a felony or currently have a felony conviction they are deported.
6. If they are arrested in the company of illegal aliens they are deported.

I think it's really the corporate donors and the Latino vote is just an excuse. I can't imagine that the majority of Latinos, who immigrated legally, love all the illegals too.

Here is what Indonesia did:

The Indonesian government has vowed to work hard to bring home around 400,000 illegal workers remaining in Malaysia, with Malaysia deciding to extend the amnesty for the third time.

Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Fahmi Idris said on Wednesday the government would continue disseminating information on the amnesty's extension and the simplified and free documentation available in order to persuade illegal immigrants to return home.

"Besides disseminating free documentation, the government will deploy transportation facilities to prevent them from being stranded at Malaysia's exit points. The Malaysian government has also helped disseminate information on the amnesty program through employers and requested that they pay their workers' salaries.

"If workers fail to respond to this positively, then the (Indonesian) government has no more ideas on how to prevent the Malaysian authorities from enforcing their harsh immigration laws," Fahmi told The Jakarta Post in Jakarta.

"Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Alwi Shihab has prepared transportation facilities such as ships and C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft to transport the illegal migrants," Arke said.

Meanwhile, chief of the immigration office in Belawan port, Syamsul Bahri, called on the government to deploy more ships to Malaysia since thousands of illegal immigrants have been stranded at several Malaysian ports due to lack of transport facilities to Indonesia.

Why, they're just cheerleading for the President on certain critical issues most American's won't.....not to be confused with just wanting jobs most Americans won't do.

Unless Bush stops behaving like a liberal Democrat on this subject, he is going to re-create for the 2008 Republican Candidate for President and the Republican candidates for Congress in 2006 the same kind of glaring, obvious trap the leftist Dems sprang on his stupid father when they tricked him into raising taxes, then crucified him later for doing it. And Ted Kennedy and the other libs will be out there leading the pack.

If Bush gets ANYTHING other than mass deportation orders shoved through that is exactly what will happen. The illegal aliens flood the border every time the President proclaims "Guest Worker Plan." The Dems will vote in any trash that will let the illegals stay and then it will be "Bush's fault" that it is flawed.

In the meantime the radical mexicans are parading around yelling about how they want "White Europeans" out of the U.S. and the entire Continent "belongs" to them. This is laying the groundwork for exactly what occurred in France with their non-assimilating "immigrants" to occur right here. Anyone that can't see this unfolding is a bit of a dim bulb.
