Senator Specter Says T.O. Is Being Blacklisted
By KYW's Tony Romeo Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Arlen Specter says he is looking into the Terrell Owens situation, saying the former Eagles receiver is being "blacklisted" from football.
Senator Specter, like fellow Philadelphian Governor Ed Rendell, is a huge Eagles fan. As to the impact Terrell Owens has had on the Eagles season, Specter says hes "madder than hell."
But, he says, Owens has not committed a crime, and that the punishment being imposed on Owens is "vindictive" and "inappropriate."
"And I believe a man or a woman has a right to undertake his profession, or his sport, or his activities. And I believe that they blacklisted him from football."
During a news conference in Harrisburg, Specter also commented on reports about allegations of tampering against Cowboys owner Jerry Jones because of comments jones made about Owens and reports that the league had told teams not to contact Owens.
That, Specter says, may constitute restraint of trade and a possible anti-trust violation.
How do they do that, draw lots and the loser gets him?
Whew! Say what you REALLY think!
I'll bet many of the Eagles fans would love to see Specter haul Jerry Jones into court.
These people have been in Washington WAY too long.
Pompous Jokers the vast lot of them.
Say that again, over and over and over and over and over and over.
Ask Specter how long an office employee on his Senate staff payroll would last if they were conducting themself in a similar fashion to T.O. I think the answer would be measured in seconds versus months!!
But you know what everyone is REALLY thinking, don't you? :)
Well, he undertook it and he screwed it up to no real fan's surprise, Arlen.
Arlen and T.O - why does 'Screw the Team' come to mind so easily for either one of them?
I believe a man or a woman has a right to undertake his profession, or his sport, or his activities. And I believe that they blacklisted him from football.
I sure am glad the Senate has nothing better to do. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Senator Scottish Law blacklisted from Congress.
haha......does that mean that if Spector's staff lined up on the Capitol steps and villified him, he would not fire them since they have a right to work?......what a jerk?...and a self serving one....
Specter, you idiot! The man is sitting at home making a fortune! I wish I could be "punished" like that.
What an idiot. Owens is under contract to the Eagles. Owens violated Eagles team rules. Owens will still be paid by the Eagles. Owens can work at his profession for someone else....next year. I repeat, what an idiot.
Well, to be honest, if that staffer was responsible for bringing in a few million worth of donations, the answer is, they would leave him alone and put up with a lot of c-r-a-p.
The problem with the owners is they coddle all athletes way too long and too much. Owens is the current primadonna in the dog house, but there are plenty of others who fit the bill to some extent:
Bonds, Sprewell, Moss and Romanowski are three that spring to mind.
Is her over-mothering what's causing these problems?
TAW
Hmmmm, I did not know that, thanks.
However, it does not change my opinion about him. ;*)
