I will be #$%#'ed if I will celebrate "Holiday" and "Seasons Greeting's" mean nothing to me other than someone wishing me sleet, snow and mush. I suspect there are many like me.

Fox News is doing with its conservative views what Republicans do with conservative votes! See my tagline for more details.

Well said.

Christmas trees are a throwback to Pagan times when at the winter solstace evergreen trees would be decorated as they were the only thing left that wasn't dead in the winter. Hence, the promise of renewed life and the birth of the new year, as Jesus is the promise of eternal life, and Christmas celebrates his birth.

Laura Laura is a Methodist - need I say more?

The most P.C. group in the Christian Church - ready to roll over and play dead at the merest accusation of a politically incorrect statement. Opposed to war on principle. Anti-gun. Multi-cultural. Supports illegal invaders. Anti-death sentence. That's the Uninted Methodist Church.

Holiday tree my @$$!!

Where did Laura Bush call anything a holiday tree?

Holiday Trees Arrive at Capitol, White House

Monday, November 28, 2005

WASHINGTON — Two of the nation's three branches of government were adorning themselves with more branches Monday as holiday trees were delivered to the Capitol and the White House.

The Capitol Holiday Tree, which originated from New Mexico's Santa Fe National Forest, was cut earlier this month and has been on a tour across the state since them. According to the Web site for the tree, the Engelmann spruce stands 80 feet tall.

First lady Laura Bush received the White House Christmas Tree, saying this year's theme for the tree would be, "all things bright and beautiful."

"The decorators are in there right now. Santa's elves are in decorating the White House, and all of you will get to see it the day after tomorrow," said Bush.

The White House tree, a Fraser fir, is 18 1/2 feet tall and will be displayed in the White House Blue Room. The tree was cut in North Carolina on Friday, and the first lady thanked the Buddy and Betsy Deal, of Laurel Springs, N.C., for providing the evergreen.

The first lady said the National Christmas Tree Growers Association had provided the White House tree every year for the last 40 years, beginning in 1966 during the Johnson administration.

On Monday a horse-drawn wagon brought the conifer to the North Portico at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

"Our horses aren't working as a team this morning," Bush said as she eyed one restless horse and scanned the tree, which was bound and protruding from the back of a green-and-red wagon.

The Deals have been growing trees for more than 30 years and won a national contest run by the tree growers association, attracting White House staffers.

Gary Walters, chief usher at the White House, and Mike Lawn, grounds foreman, selected the tree at the Deal's farm on Oct. 20. The tree for the Blue Room as well as trees for the Bush family's private residence and the Oval Office were cut on Nov. 25 and transported to Washington.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I was reminded yesterday at church by our Pastor that we should forget about getting too upset by those lost in darkness over the holiday. You know, I think your preacher is right. The vast secular side of society has its "holiday" trappings - trees, lights, shopping, figgy pudding. Those of us who are sick of all that anyway shouldn't have a care about what they call it. We're celebrating Christ and it's best done in a quiet, worshipful way IMHO. I will continue saying Merry Christmas to all, and I hope they are respectful enough to return my greeting, but I won't let it bother me anymore.

I doubt that Very Seriously.

Laura Bush is a good Christian Woman and would not cave to the Secular Humanists of the ACLU.

Source link?

I don't have a link but I saw the live coverage as the tree(main indoor tree to be placed in the "blue room") was delivered to the WH.

The scene was in FRont of the WH with the folks from North Carolina? who grew it.

She said Happy Holidays more than once in her unscripted comments.

C-SPAN may run the clip, I don't know for sure, sorry.

Actually, it begins the night of December 25th this year.

Since there is no Chanukah tree, I don't see the point in referring to the tree as anything but what it is, a Christmas tree.

So send FOX a letter. The link is at the bottom of the story.
Tell 'em what you think about their reporting.
I told 'em that there would be no "holiday" if not for Christmas so they might as well get over it.

And the 15% who don't celebrate Christmas? Too bad.

I just called that number. I was ready to tell them that they would get more donations if they called the tree a Christmas tree rather than a holiday tree. A nice young man said that the tree has been re-named a Christmas tree.

The website still calls it a holiday tree. Does anyone have more current information?
