I saw that too. I wonder - I believe that the Hispanic population is, on the whole, more religious than the rest of the current American population. To the extent that this (or any) cultural or ethnic group can be spoken of as being monolithic at all, it may turn out that "the Hispanic vote" will come out on the conservative side of this issue.

No matter what you call it, it's still a religious symbol. If they are going to ban the name, they will next want to ban the tree.

"She said Happy Holidays more than once in her unscripted comments."
People have been saying this for a long, long time. Why is this a problem?

Thanks for the post. As you can see from my posts on this thread, I don't want to exclude people or make anyone feel like an "outcast," but I include myself (and other Christians, as well as observers of other religions) in that wish as well.
Is it really so hard to walk that line, to let everyone celebrate and yet let no one feel "oppressed," or excluded? (Throwing out, of course, the small minorities all across the spectrum who seem to be so easily offended.)
Oh well. At about this point I throw up my hands and suggest we bring out the Festivus pole and perform the feats of strength!
:)

I don't see the ACLU asking for removal of "Hanukkah and Happy Kuanza (sp) Only Merry Christmas. I am surprised that Laura Bush didn't say Christmas Tree.
She also wished the American People "Happy Holidays" last year, she could have said Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. ITS MERRY CHRISTMAS , and Happy Hunukkah (so long as we keep paying the ACLU they will continue to sue to remove all reference to the word Christmas).

Frank: Welcome, new comers. The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it! You, Kruger. My son tells me your company stinks!
George: Oh, God.
Frank: (To George) Quiet, you'll get yours in a minute. Kruger, you couldn't smooth a silk sheet if you had a hot date with a babe.. I lost my train of thought....And now as Festivus rolls on, we come to the feats of strength.
George: Not the feats of strength..

I have been boycotting Lowes for Some time now over thier practices with Spanish signs. I am glad the Issue is rising even if it is Cristmas that brings it to light.

Well...nothing says "Peace on earth and good will to men" better than severing a living thing from it's life-giving roots and then putting it on display to die slowly before our eyes as it's vital supply of moisture and nourishment is kept from it. Then when it is all done, we toss it outside like last week's garbage. It makes as much sense as giving the ol' lady a fresh bundle of freshly severed roses.... /sarc
