It's just a lot of BS.

Yes, it is. I can hardly wait for the text of his speech to become available online.

"If it works for Israel, it will work for us."

I guess you completely missed the fact that our border is 2400% longer than Israel's. That is like comparing your backyard fence to the Berlin Wall. There is no comparison. The wall separating East and West Berlin was one of the most impenetrable walls in history. It was only 48 miles long and lasted 28 years. During its existance there were 5000 successful escapes over, under or through it. Your 2000 mile long fence just ain't gonna work.

"What do you think the cost of another 9/11 would be?

That argument would carry more weight if the people involved in 9/11 hadn't entered this country legally. You could have built a wall from the surface of the earth to the moon along our entire border, and 9/11 still would have happened.

"Or the costs we are already shouldering supporting illegal immigrants in healthcare, education, welfare benefits, jailtime for the many that commit criminal acts, etc"

Now you're talking. These people are illegal. Criminals. Lets stop paying for their healthcare, education, welfare and jailtime. When one steps into an emergency room, you throw him in jail and ship him back. When one tries to enroll his kids in school, you throw the whole family in jail and ship them back. And since you mentioned welfare...lets dump the whole program altogether. You want to talk burden on our country...you don't have to look much farther than the completely legal welfare rats feeding like ticks off of our money.

"If we have themoney to build B-2's at $2 billion+ a unit then we have the money to build this level of fence."

The difference would be...the B-2 works.

This is not an issue I've focused on.

I have a basic mathematical question. Social Security and pensions in general cannot survive the baby boom's aging if younger workers are deported.

That's pretty much a period. Full stop. The retirees of the next 20 years or so are guaranteed to be destitute if the numbers of workers reduce more sharply than the numbers are currently projected to be. If illegals are presented with hoops to jump through to become fully documented and contributing to the various pension plans of the US, this is probably in a pure mathematical sense the only way to avoid tax increases.

As I said, I have not focused on this issue. Are the most avid advocates of deportation acknowledging the math and also advocating tax increases?

You are ignoring the fact that in Israel, their fence HAS worked well. Virtually 100% success, except for where the fence currently is not built. Once it is completed, Israel will be pretty much hermetically sealed. It works. And better than your Berlin Wall example, as the Berlin Wall had more possibilities for escape. It didn't have the series of barriers that the Israeli's have built w/their fence (there is another thread somewhere on FR that show's the series of barriers and roads, ditches, etc.).

Obviously our border is long, but in the most important and strategic areas along the border, a series of fencing would help. It has already been successful in the part built in California along the border (except for the hole in a small area that needs filling in, but that the Bush Admin hasn't wanted to fund).

Yes, the 9/11 guys got in here on visa's under false pretenses. However, we already know that Islamists have been entering our country illegally along the Mexican border, as ranchers whose land is routinely crossed by these illegals, have found prayer rugs and Koran's on their properties (there is another thread on FR that speaks to this, posted recently).

We don't need illegal aliens to prop up Social Security. If we actually need more workers (young ones) to keep the Ponzi scheme afloat, then we can admit more legal immigrants.

I would venture that at least half of the illegal aliens are working in the underground economy and are contributing zilch when it comes to payroll and income taxes.

Here's a thread on how these scams work in the construction biz:

I'm actually more concerned with the islamofascists entering from Canada, a place where the current Canadian govt. is 100 times more anti-American than the avg. Mexican, where the govt. welcomes islmofascists with generous welfare benfits and where they can blend into sizable and establised muslim enclaves in cities close to the US border such as Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

"I'm actually more concerned with the islamofascists entering from Canada,"

I'm concerned about this too. Muslims have emigrated to Canada in large numbers, and Canada is totally lax in their immigration policies. However, there is a dual problem on the Mexican border as opposed to the Canadian border, which is that not only foreigners other than Mexican are entering our country, but also huge numbers of Mexicans themselves. We are being overwhelmed by Mexican illegals. We are not being overwhelmed by Canadians fleeing Canada. So, the Mexican border needs immediate attention. Neither border is safe from potential terrorists entering, but the Mexican border is the sieve through which overwhelming amounts of Mexican illegals are entering daily, including non-Mexican foreigners.

And 99% of them are Christian, that's why I'm for a guest worker program and have stated my support for Kyl/Cornyn's bill many times.

Also what would have Ronald Reagan thought.

Teaching illegals to treat us and our nation like crap, disregarded degraded, in the name of compassion and showing them how nice we are.

Bush is spoiling the kids again...too much yes-money-taxes-men on his hands...meantime we're treated like crap for being good little prostitutes of the government...

Huh, President Bush, has lowered taxes, tried to reform social security, tried to get rid of execessive business regulations, and you come up with this tirade based on kneejerk emotion, IMO.

And who is going to pay for your guest workers when they rip us off? Ah, yes, pass the buck to your American pals...you're so loving of Christians, aren't you...notwithstanding the fact that 60% of them are pagans and sell their daughters as young as 8 in "marriage", as told by Christian missionaries stoned in the border area to me.

As for the Reagan wall thing, it were the East who were imprisoning their own, as we would not imprison our own with a wall of our own, quite the contrary.

But again, being nice and fair to fellow Americans does not occur to liars and murderers.

Lowered taxes?

Who is talking about lowering taxes when the budget's ballooning genius?

It's not because he lowers taxes we have more money.

Kind of like telling your wife she gets a new present but the house is mortgage to Mr Red Chinese, and tomorrow say hello to your new master Chao!

Ciao America.

Bush's immigrartion policy has got frauds for friends.

"Also what would have Ronald Reagan thought.

Ronald Reagan (bless his soul) was wrong when he granted amnesty. His claim that this would stop the flood of illegal immigration if illegals were given amnesty had just the opposite affect, and hence we are dealing with what is happening today, a flood of illegal immigration from Mexico. Now everyone is trying to get in here to take advantage of any amnesty that is granted. Do you really think that if amnesty is granted (which is what the guest worker program really is), that it will stop illegals from coming? In your dreams.

I think it's because the term has some sort of bad connotations associated with it. Maybe from the Death Wish movies or something. In the definition of the the word:

vigilante (noun)
a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.

I guess that it is a fine line as to whether they are or not. From all I've read on them, it is not so much that they have taken law enforcement into their own hands as helped assist law enforcement. If they are vigilantes then they should wear that badge proudly. Kudos for the work they've been doing!

Fact of the matter, it ain't Mexicans and let alone feminist fat cat sanxctimonious leftist lawyers like Dane and his Guenter Grass ilk who are going to pay with their offshore accounts for the "reunification costs", just ask the Germans.

Say hello to Red China who has all the loans for the bills we pay Mexicans.

It ain't amnesty, amnesty would be granting instant citizenship, what a guest worker program does is bring sanity to a broken immigration system.

I think that you're right on this point. I have ranted on about the repurcussions of this as well. I forsee thirty years from now, lawsuits from illegals demanding their Social Security and talks of reparations and everything else. This has gone on too far already.

So would a fence if we wanted it to. Tne problem is Jorge (Rockerfeller Republican)Arbusto does not want to stop illegals. We need the cheap labor to keep wages low.
