> Yeah Colin then why did Murtha say, "Our troops are our greatest enemy"

WOW! When did he say THAT? Please give a source. Wanting to abandon Iraq is one thing, but this statement is completely indefensible by any one, even Dimocrats.

Man, I thought this was a humor article, but I looked closer and seen that Powell really did say those things. Powell is going to be just like Jimmy Carter. He will be around forever badmouthing Republicans. The only difference is that Powell is supposed to be a Republican.

Powell is getting tiresome. As far as I know, nobody from the White House has called Murtha "Michael Moore". They simply disagreed with him, publicly and forcefully. That's still allowed, isn't it?

but he doesn't deserve to be compared to Michael Moore.

Why don't you actually show the comparison that McClellan made instead of repeating some regurgitateted, secondhand, non specific propaganda.

What McClellan actually said;

Murtha deserves McClellan's remark. It is right on target. It's a specific and true comparison of Murtha's policy to Moore's advocation of policy.

Shame on the White House for defending themselves

The thin-skinned knee-jerks are intolerant of anybody who doesn't toe the line.

"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

-- Teddy Roosevelt in the "Kansas City Star", May 7, 1918

"Congressman Murtha is a respected veteran and politician who has a record of supporting a strong America. So it is baffling that he is endorsing the policy positions of Michael Moore and the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic party."

I don't find anything wrong with this statement.

"Murtha called for the Jihadits to be presented Iraq on a golden platter. That makes him a traitor or a fool. "

Instead of calling Murtha a traitor, which just gets us labeled as extremists - we should push the press to ask Murtha tougher questions - like what do we do as all the friendly Iraqis are slaughtered in the streets as we pull out? And what will we do when the whole world, that already doesn't like us also doesn't trust our word or our strength or our resolve?

And what is the plan for when Al Quaida is no longer tied down in one place but brings it's full force against the rest of the world?

We can do better attacking Murtha's ideas than his patriotism.

Point taken.

"We're not facing a world war anymore," Powell told the Post. "We have pretty much convinced the world that democracy is a better system than communism or fascism or totalitarianism."

This sounds eerily similar to statements Michael Moore has made!

Powell is positioning himself for a "disgraceful" disavowal of the Bush doctrine, and also for a switch to the Democratic Party. His remarks are political, and indicate an interest possibly in the Dem VP spot in 2008.

Just look at what Powell's own chief of staff said recently about Cheney and Rumsfeld. He called them members of a "cabal." Now how exactly can public officials with a fully legitimate portfolio as policymakers at the highest level of government possibly be a cabal, since a cabal, according to Webster's, is "the artifices and intrigues of a group of persons secretly united to bring about an overturn or usurpation especially in public affairs? Was the government plotting to overturn and usurp itself?

Powell is off the reservation and positioning himself to become a Democrat. Mark my words.

Tell me the truth. If you were the President would you want Scott McClellan speaking for you. He sucks. He needs to take some lessons from Rumsfeld about how to bitch slap reporters. Everytime he opens his mouth he hurts the Administration.

Tell me the truth. Did you actually see the McClellan quote?

Maybe the reason why you think McClellan sucks so bad is because you get your information about what McClellan says, through a filter.

I challenge you to put the direct McClellan quote in your next post and then I challenge you to say with a straight face that such a quote should hurt the administration.

Bush Jr. is now reaping what Bush Sr. has sown in the name of PC.

Bush 1 and Bush 2 both gave Colin Powell his 'claim to fame', and it now appears to have been a mistake. Powell could have disagreed and kept his mouth shut, but he chose to attempt to make the administration look bad. Again, he failed...he made himself look inept and ungrateful for the position he now enjoys!

Calling the President a liar when all evidence points to the opposite is "juvenile".

NewsMax is hardly the place to get a detailed and accurate view of Powell's full opinions and comments of the last thirty days. I don't have one to recommend, but I know that this one would hardly be fair and detailed.

Did you see McClellan making a statement about the CIA prison leak? What a moron. First he said he wouldn't comment on them and then he said a majority of Americans supported the policy.

If it's classified info, you don't talk about it, period. Needless to say he let an elderly lady kick him around the press briefing room for the next 10 minutes.
