I know. He and John McCain are a lot alike. Both know that they are loved and protected by the media, therefore, they are both bullet proof.

Tell me the truth. If you were the President would you want Scott McClellan speaking for you. He sucks. He needs to take some lessons from Rumsfeld about how to bitch slap reporters. Everytime he opens his mouth he hurts the Administration.

Colin Powell sucks too. The only difference between him and Wesley Clarke is that G.H.W. Bush made Powell and Clinton made Clarke. When Powell needed a major command job they created a major command for him.

"Pssst. One WMD strategically placed and the damn Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (plus alot more) is over.

You get?"

that's my point - if the war on terror was anywhere near as serious as WW2 they would have canceled the parade like they did in WW2.

Just because someone served our country in one way or another doesn't mean they are beyond criticism. At this point I don't realy care what Powell has to say about anything.

"Calling a congressman Michael Moore is a bit juvenile. You would think the President's spokesman could come up with something better than that."

Most of the news stories do not give the actual quote or only give part of it. Here is what Scott McClellan actually said:

"Congressman Murtha is a respected veteran and politician who has a record of supporting a strong America. So it is baffling that he is endorsing the policy positions of Michael Moore and the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic party."

Powell may be to the United States what Talleyrand was to France, serving as a foreign secretary under royalist, revolutionary, and Napoleonic regimes...

Very interesting comparison. And one I'm sure Mr. Powell would readily embrace.

I categorize Colin Powell as a chameleon opportunist. I didn't care for his performance as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. And I was alarmed by his performance as Secretary of State. Given unambiguous tasks he performs well. But when left to his own devices he seems to be driven by liberal tendencies.

The country will be much better served if his main title is "Former".

President Reagan brought Powell in Reagan's second term and Powell is correctly credited with putting National Security back on a more professional footing after Oliver North etc... and I say that as someone who personally admires Oliver north.

who described him as "livid."

I have a difficult time imagining Powell as ever being livid.

Yep, I want to see his quote from other sources... This article seems tailor made to get conservatives to attack Powell. Let's see what the post actually says since it was a Post reporter.

Murtha called for the Jihadits to be presented Iraq on a golden platter. That makes him a traitor or a fool.

I don't care what Colon Bowell has to say about it.

"Colin Powell the black Wesley Clark. Between the two them you can see how mediocrity can rise to high circles by achieving a brown ring around their noses."

I think you do a disservice to President Reagan by suggesting that is the only reason he selected Colin Powell.

"We're not facing a world war anymore," Powell told the Post.

Only as long as we keep the islamofacists in check Mr. Powell. I can't believe those words came out of his mouth.
That said, I would'nt have compared Murtha's comments to Michael Moore, but to Howard Dean or Noam Chomsky.
