A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Greetings!
There are many things for me to be giving thanks for this year. It was an interesting year, 2005 was, for me as well as for everyone else.
Yes, there were troubling times, from earthquakes to tsunamis and hurricanes. Also political troubles as well. All set to bring us down to the depths of depression and defeat.
At least it would if we let it!
So this year I decided to say to those demons of depression Go away! and ask God to enter and take over. But, first I need to take some time out to thank Him for the blessings overlooked because of the negative stuff that went on.
- I thank You, My Lord God, that we were given 4 more years of a decent and good man in the Oval Office.
- I thank You, My Lord God, that I was blessed with a year of health and a year more of life.
- I thank You, My Lord God, for my family, and for their continued good health and prosperity. For their successful surgeries, and their new jobs as well as new lives with marriages, and parenthood for my nephews and nieces.
- I thank You, My Lord God, for a wonderful mother and father.
- May You continue to bless and protect all my relatives and friends as well as the USA and President Bush and his family.
Now, those are just a few of my "Thank You's ; I thought Id ask you to add some of yours.
May God Bless You All !
~ Pippin

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over head and a place to sleep... You are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace... You are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... You are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... You are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death... You are more blessed than three billion people in the world.
If your parents are still alive and still married... You are very rare, even in the United States.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful... You are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you can hold someones hand, hug them, or even touch them on the shoulder... You are blessed because you can offer healing touch.
If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore... You are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.
Have a good day, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

I have a similar story but the grandfather was my 48 year old husband, his first grandson was 2 months old.He had a heart attack just before my son's birthday..and was buried just after.. That is sad, but the rest of your post is much better. Thank goodness your son talked to someone who recognized his symptoms and he got to the hospital in time to prevent a possible fatal heart attack.

Thank you Ladies for giving us another head start regarding the REAL meaning of Thanksgiving. Billie, your presentation is so lovely & feminine. I am continually impressed with comes forth from your creative talents. It is soft & feminine, as are you.
Amazing how we vulgarize holidays, isn't it? Most folks look at Thanksgiving as a
Day off
Football
BIG MEAL
Family/Friends time
Prepare for Christmas Shopping the next day.
IF there is much of an attitude of thanksgiving it might be in the pre-meal prayer.. and that is a maybe.
and unfortunately it is seen in most holidays. "Being all about God" turns into being "all about me'
I this year am grateful to be living in this time. Communication, medical know how, alternative medicine know how, travel.. all so good and so available t all.
I am grateful for God providing me what I need to live. It is rarely all I want (greedy Dolly) but is is truly all I need.
I am grateful for the lessons I have learned about my self & the growth experienced these years of care giving mom. We do have our moments (days, weeks?) but God's blessing are there.
I am thankful for my brother, a great FRiend who is brightening up his corner of Oklahoma as a wonderful husband, father & Christian witness.
I am grateful for my friends here in Ohio who I can talk with, play with, pray with & cry with. That is the essence of life.
I am thankful for finding FRee Republic 2+ years ago. New avenues of knowledge, excitement & friendships.
I am thankful for my God who provided me a way to join him in eternity.
I am thankful for my Pets, fun & joy (work & expense) but God blessings no doubt.
Oh, my I better stop... so much more but I wont have anything left for the weekend Thanksgiving Thread!!!!

Hi FRiends. Glad you dropped by. Snowing here . Yuk. working on a project (no, not HTML!) and not sure my late afternoon hiking date w/dogs will come off. Depends on roads & "other factors" along the way. I didn't ping you to my note to Billie/Pippin but I shared there in prior post some of the things for which I am grateful.
You did not see SNOW on that list!

Thank you, Dolly - you are always very generous with your compliments - they are appreciated. :)
Didn't want anyone to mistake this for our annual Thanksgiving Day thread and hoped it helped to give it the title "Giving Thanks" instead of "Thanksgiving Thoughts" as Pippin called it in FR mail.

...and we, and even typing dogs, are grateful to God for such nice friends, too.
...and me personally grateful for any place where I can fit, and get out of eventually......and especially if there are extra baloney sammiches there.
And digging. We like digging. Well, I do, anyway.
(I know, I know. Just not around the Birdbath. Sheesh.)

Good! Giving Thanks is really what you wrote about, so it worked nicely that way, and gave me a chance to play with that sweet little angel to make a heading. :)
