Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 10:54 a.m. EST Nancy Pelosi: Pro-Troop Vote 'a Disgrace'

Anti-war House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is blasting last night's 403 to 3 House vote in support of U.S. troops and their mission in Iraq, calling it "a disgrace."

Complaining that House Republicans had engaged in a "deception" by calling for a last minute vote on the Iraq war, the San Francisco Democrat said the pro-troop resolution was "a disservice to our country."

Pelosi said that the "Republican majority has stooped to a new low" by forcing Democrats to go on the record against an immediate pullout.

Her California colleague, House Armed Services Committee chairman, Rep. Duncan Hunter, wrote the resolution, which asked whether members thought "that the deployment of United States forces in Iraq be terminated immediately."

"We're going to let every member answer that, and I hope the message that goes back to our troops in Iraq is that we do not support a precipitous pullout," Hunter said.

Pelosi slammed Hunter's proposal as "a political stunt and should it be rejected by this House" - minutes before she voted with the Republican majority.

Yes. And they made themselves look like fools. I don't expect the MSM to say much about this though.

From Hugh Hewitt this morning; "the sound and fury signifying nothing" Democrats. Enjoy!

403 to 3. The "Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing" Democrats.

by Hugh Hewitt

November 19, 2005 05:49 AM PST

The Murtha proposal for immediate withdrawal from Iraq was defeated 403 to 3 last night. So much for the idea of cut and run.

Many Democrats were emotionally undone by the exercise of having to confront their own rhetoric, and the anti-war left must be stunned this morning: Only three votes? All that work? All those marches? All those posts at the fever swamp bulletin board? For three votes?

The Dems have more excuses than a teenager: It wasn't the real Murtha resolution; it's a terrible political trick; I will not participate in the assault on Congressman Murtha etc, etc, etc.

But the talk around the turkey this week should review that the elections in 2002, 2004 and the vote on Friday night in the House underscore the county is committed to victory in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and everywhere else the GWOT is being waged. That talk should also dwell on the profound hypocrisy of the left and its Congressional representatives, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." They only believe what they believe when the country as a whole isn't watching. Supermen on the web, when Congress assmebled they went into their phonebooths/cloakrooms and came out as Clark Kent.

The Democrats took their walloping last year and instead of resolving to return to D.C. as an opposition party that would work to craft alternatives to domestic policies while remaining supportive of the GWOT and of the troops, have spent a year digging deeper and deeper into anti-war conspiracy theories and committing themselves to Vietnam Syndrome 2.0. The GOP abetted their descent by failing to do what happened yesterday: Call them on their nonsense and debate it, in full view of the public, and not in MSM-mediated soundbytes.

The Chamber was full and the tempers high --as they should be when a great party confronts its opposite over a serious issue. The Democratic Party is committed to retreat, but they hate to be asked to defend that inclination. The Republicans are committed to victory, but seem hesitant because of the high costs of the war, even though the costs of retreat would be much higher still.

If the GOP stays the course of clarity, and keeps its purposes front and center, the elections of 2006 will be another milestone in the Democrats road to Whigdom.

Win the war.
Confirm the judges.
Cut the taxes.
Control the spending.

Ouch, Nancy! Take that and put some ice on it. You guys are a pitiful sight.

I agree. It was a disgrace to put that dottering old fool, John P. Murtha, up all by himself to read emails to the Congress, representing what's left of a great political party.

The Democrats have become the French Cheri party.

The French are charming but totally incompetent. The Democrats are only totally incompetent.

So, is the little old broad from California so disgraced that she's going to "immediately withdraw" from the House?

There certain things no politician will defend: 1) An American defeat; 2) A tax increase and 3) a spending cut. Now you know the lay of the land in American politics.

Just to clarify, there was a resolution to vote on the resoultion.

Piglosi stood up to try to prevent the vote from taking place at all. This is when she was running her yapper. In additionto the "new low" comment, which usually is the charge when they are getting their arses handed to them...but, in addition to that, she use an utterly, staged "You can handle the truth" quip, ala Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men.

It was pathetically delivered and indicated on how absolutely staged every single comment is that the pukes make.

The demoSTUPIDs lost the vote to put this to vote, so the "real" vote was held. Then, every demoSCUM that was talking only minutes before about how wrong this war was, is, and will always be, voted.

Only 3 voted to call for troops to be withdrawn: Cynthia McKinney (GA), Robert Wexler (FL), and Jose Serrano (NY).

And, each of these demoTWITs are scum for not supporting the troops, HOWEVER, at least they voted how they really feel. They hate the troops and the military, but at least they were willing to vote.

You know that Piglosi and all the other scumbags feel the same way or even stronger.

So, when it comes down to it, the leftist are a bunch of spineless crap weasels.

This should be a lesson to every weak spined RINO out there. The real power comes from the right. It is the conservative pulse of America that appels to people. These leftists even know it, that's why they voted against a resolution that ALMOST PRECISELY mirrors their rhetoric on every talk show, every quote in the paper, and every utterance published on a web site. This bill was exactly what they talk about, but they voted against.

Take this as a lesson and start calling them on everything that they run their stinky pieholes about. If the pubbies do this, 2006 will be an absolutely crushing defeat for the demoSCUM.

Yeah, anytime a Dem is forced to vote in favor of our troops it must have been by trickery. No other explanation.
