Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 10:54 a.m. EST Nancy Pelosi: Pro-Troop Vote 'a Disgrace'

Anti-war House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is blasting last night's 403 to 3 House vote in support of U.S. troops and their mission in Iraq, calling it "a disgrace."

Complaining that House Republicans had engaged in a "deception" by calling for a last minute vote on the Iraq war, the San Francisco Democrat said the pro-troop resolution was "a disservice to our country."

Pelosi said that the "Republican majority has stooped to a new low" by forcing Democrats to go on the record against an immediate pullout.

Her California colleague, House Armed Services Committee chairman, Rep. Duncan Hunter, wrote the resolution, which asked whether members thought "that the deployment of United States forces in Iraq be terminated immediately."

"We're going to let every member answer that, and I hope the message that goes back to our troops in Iraq is that we do not support a precipitous pullout," Hunter said.

Pelosi slammed Hunter's proposal as "a political stunt and should it be rejected by this House" - minutes before she voted with the Republican majority.

I'm sure that the Dems had planned to use the coming two week vacation to press home their, now, opposition to the Iraq war. This has effectively disarmed them.

Well done Mr Speaker.

At some point, the rats are going to have to learn that THEY ARE NOT IN POWER. The American voters keep telling them but they refuse to believe it as they get slapped over and over.

I see Pella Lugosi's days being numbered in her "leadership" position.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

"I voted for the war before I voted against the war.....again."

Complaining that House Republicans had engaged in a "deception" by calling for a last minute vote on the Iraq war...

I guess only Harry Reid is allowed to engage in deception by calling for a last minute closed session of the Senate with telling Frist first.

Shame on the Republicans for learning from the Democrats' playbook and using Democrat tactics against them.

It's a beautiful thing. Got the Dems by the short hair for once. Pelosi ends up looking as stupid as she is.

She isn't implying it's a disgrace House voted to reject the pullout. Even she isn't stupid enough to say something like that out loud.

I can't ever remember the Republicans outmaneuvering the Dems in such a dramatic and powerful fashion!

Dawn of a new era?

Pelosi voted against it - she didn't side with the three. If the article is correct, she's denouncing a resolution she voted for.

Exactly what you would expect from that two-faced weasel.

I hope her liberal constituents give her hell for not standing proud against the war on terror.

...and what was Oil-can Charlie Rangel's bill to reintroduce the draft right before the election, if not a self-serving effort to undermine "W"?????????

The lopsided vote last night reveals some interesting items. If the polls are so bad for GW Bush on Iraq and other subjects, why did all the Democrats scurry to the Republican resolution. Why? Becasue the polls are not even close. The MSM and the Democrat "traitor, treason, cut & run" party is full of you know what! What a bunch of digusting human beings the entire Democrat Party is, along with the scum in the MSM!!!

This is Pelosi you are referring to.

"Even she isn't stupid enough to say something like that out loud."

In libspeak you may be correct before you were incorrect in this assertion.

I hope they're simply tired of being dragged around in the Senate with the filibusters, Democrat memos, and investigations (like the Frist stock sale), and in the House with DeLay being accused of taking illegally funded trips when the Dems were the worst offenders, and then with being indicted on charges for breaking laws that were not on the books.

The Democrats aren't trying to win over the people with better policies, they're just trying to remove successful Republicans through scandal and innuendo. I'm hoping that the Republicans are just tired of it and are fighting fire with fire, for once.

It's always a "disgrace" when you demand that the DemocRATS put up or shut up. The cut and run Dems always want to have it both ways. They say they support the troops while accusing them of killing "innocent civilians" in Iraq. Pelosi needs to shut up. She's such a ditz.

This is the first time I can recall ever seeing the Repub's stick it to the Dem's, keep up the good work. When Pelosi said "You can't handle the truth" it was the funniest thing I ever saw. They really are coming unglued.

I don't see how pelosi can say the Republicans have stooped to a new low, the demoflops have that area covered, in fact the dimwits need a step ladder to scratch the belly of an earthworm.
