Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 10:54 a.m. EST Nancy Pelosi: Pro-Troop Vote 'a Disgrace'

Anti-war House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is blasting last night's 403 to 3 House vote in support of U.S. troops and their mission in Iraq, calling it "a disgrace."

Complaining that House Republicans had engaged in a "deception" by calling for a last minute vote on the Iraq war, the San Francisco Democrat said the pro-troop resolution was "a disservice to our country."

Pelosi said that the "Republican majority has stooped to a new low" by forcing Democrats to go on the record against an immediate pullout.

Her California colleague, House Armed Services Committee chairman, Rep. Duncan Hunter, wrote the resolution, which asked whether members thought "that the deployment of United States forces in Iraq be terminated immediately."

"We're going to let every member answer that, and I hope the message that goes back to our troops in Iraq is that we do not support a precipitous pullout," Hunter said.

Pelosi slammed Hunter's proposal as "a political stunt and should it be rejected by this House" - minutes before she voted with the Republican majority.

. . . calling it "a disgrace."

So, I see, closing the Senate to grandstand about "corrupted Intelligence" isn't a stunt, but calling for a vote on whether to withdraw from Iraq is?

He is a perfect democrap....

Speaking of Kerry, how did you like the use of the new verb, to be "swiftboated"...???

There were a few of the speeches that referred to Murtha being "swiftboated"....LOL

I even heard one of the dem idiots calling for hearings, like the ones that Willam Fulbright had during the Vietnam War....that Kerry testified in....

YEAH...that conjurs up good, positive thoughts to the American people...jeez.

Nancy, your sunshine patriot John P. Murtha should have just kept his big fat mouth shut in the first place and you wouldn't be in this fix. You're not ready to play politics in the Big Leagues. And your post-vote whining is pathetic and unbecoming of an American leader. Yep, you were forced to vote against your own conscience. BWAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA

Your summation is dead-on. This vote will serve to stuff in the face of 'Bush-Lied' libs with the question: 'If Bush lied, why didn't each and every Democrat vote to pull out of Iraq immediately?'

So she spoke against the resolution after she voted for it?

True 'lunatic left' reasoning. She and John Kerry are the twin idiots of Congress.

The Democrats have become the French Cheri party. We are against it before it we are for it.

Pelosi said that the "Republican majority has stooped to a new low" by forcing Democrats to go on the record against an immediate pullout.

In other words, Nancy is mad because the Republicans effectively took away the ability for the Democrats to play political games.

They will be spinning this one forever.

I laughed when I read that. Only the NVA and a few unfortunate other really know what it's like to be swiftboated and suspect it's a heck of a lot more unpleasant than voting to support the troops.

Of course then again, voting to support our troops for a democrat may be like shining sunlight on a vampire.

Nancy, why is it a disgrace for members of Congress to officially state that they support our military during wartime?

How is that a trick? The Democrats announced they wanted an immediate pull-out. This was their opportunity to embarrass the Republicans. Instead, they're on the defensive this weekend.

Pelosi has no principles. Why didn't she reject it herself if she felt so strongly about it?

At least they opposed Vietnam. On Iraq, they're trying to have it both ways, being against it to keep their kook Left base happy and reassuring mainstream Americans they can be trusted to safeguard our country's national security. Its not easy to straddle a horse pulling in opposite directions and last night the Democrats were forced to move in the one direction most consistent with preserving their political viability. Principle be damned.

This version is really Auto-matron Pelosi v.7. Some of the earlier models had terrible mishaps involving mirrors, garlic, sunlight, and wooden or silver crucifixes.

Apparently, the Democratic members of Congress have figured out that their constituents are so uninformed and/or stupid that the Dems can get away with any statement they want.
