Warren Community College President Defends Professor’s Harassment of Young Conservative

Professor Admits Radical Diatribe

Student Fights Back

HERNDON, VA –Young America’s Foundation exposed Warren Community College’s radical Professor John Daly, who in an email to student Rebecca Beach, vowed to intimidate those students who host conservative speakers and called for American soldiers in Iraq to murder their superiors.

Instead of admonishing the professor’s intemperate attack on a student’s right of free expression, Warren Community College President William Austin said Prof. John Daly has “first amendment rights” to harass Rebecca. Furthermore, the President is trying to bully Rebecca into silence. He said Rebecca, not Prof. John Daly, is ruining the college’s name by going on talk radio and television exposing Daly’s mean spirited email.

In an interview with the Express-Times, a local New Jersey paper, Daly stood by his email to Rebecca. He told the paper that Rebecca’s conservative group is an “ultra right-wing, possibly fascist, group.”

Daly’s email to Rebecca came after she sent a note to faculty announcing the appearance of decorated war hero Lt. Col. Scott Rutter to discuss America’s accomplishments in Iraq.

Daly’s unedited email can be read in full below.

“Prof. John Daly knowingly intimated one of his students. That’s not protected by the First Amendment,” said Jason Mattera, spokesman for Young America’s Foundation. “It was poor judgment to hire Daly to begin with. Warren Community College compounds their ineptitude by defending Daly’s harassment of Rebecca.”

Bump this one to the top again.  The school has issued a new press release and while it does sound like they may yet do something, results are not in hand just yet. Read it for yourself at http://www.warren.edu  a few excerpts I'd like to point out however:

If any of you have not already, please contact the Board of Trustees keeping this issue in their face until Mr. Daly is gone for good.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm tired of seeing examples like this go unpunished and allowed to stand. This type of behavior on our campuses has simply got to stop and stop here.

To the communists and socialists, rights only extend one way ; to them.

They can beat you blacl and bkue and if you try to defend yourself, you are attacking them.

Just as in their world Christian haters, perverts, and degenerates must be tolerated and accepted by Christians and decent people [ there are many decent people who choose not to be Christians and that is their privilege]

By the same token, Christian haters, perverts, and degenerates do not have to tolerate Christians or decent people.

In my opinion, hollywood]the movie makers and television producers]and the alphetabet news agencies are the leading advocates of Christian and decency hating.

That is why the Professor is being defended for attacking her verbally, slandering her, and intimidating her. And if she tries to defend herself, the school administration will accuse her of an unprovoked attack on the Professor and do everything in their power to covertly destroy her.

If you can find the time, e-mail everyone you can and get the word out on how this girl is being treated.

Evil cannot stand for long the light of truth shinning on it.

It already has, my friend.

At this point in time, it can still be brought back.

But it is going to take a long hard fight to do so.

And we are the ones that will have to do it.

Communism HAS killed 100,000,000 people, Professor Daly. It's documented here (sorry, didn't know how to create an HTML link). Don't be an idiot.

Good suggestion.

Winthrop University is another example where a black Republican, Christine Byington, received unfair treatment by the administration and she decided to withdrew from the school.

This is disgusting. We should all write the Governor of Virginia to protest. I'm sure he'll nip this in the bud.

>Dr. Austin, college president stated, "I firmly believe every employee and student has first amendment rights, no matter how repugnant I personally find Mr. Daly's statements.<

Let's see if this brave administrator realizes that, although the 1st amendment gives us freedom, it doesn't protect us when we harass a fellow citizen, especially when we hold a position of power over that citizen.

I'm not holding my breath.

Someone posted Daly's CV yesterday and I noticed he's a product of Cal State Northridge. It's a breeding ground for radicals, anarchists, reconquistas (especially) and plain old Communists. I can't believe parents who send their kids to American equivalents of madrassas know what's going on. If they do then we deserve what we're getting.

You are EXACTLY correct.

CS Northridge is a flash point, and hot bed for folk's like Daly....

"Warren Community College President William Austin said Prof. John Daly has “first amendment rights” to harass Rebecca."

"Treason against the United States shall consist only in levy war against them, OR IN ADHERING TO THEIR ENEMIES, PROVIDING THEM AID AND COMFORT." (My caps.)

Or something like that - U.S. Constitution

This low life should be tried for sedition and hanged. His supervisors who protect him should be tried as accomplices after the fact.

His statements represent the kind of left-wing politically charged garbage dumped on young impressionable minds by the neo Bolsheviks who infest our institutes of higher learning.

Having graduated from "Red" Rutgers in New Jersey, I know of what I speak.

WCCC investigating controversial e-mail
Adjunct instructor’s comments gain national attention

WASHINGTON TWP. (Nov. 18, 2005) – Officials at Warren County Community College are investigating political comments about the war in Iraq made by an adjunct instructor to a student via an e-mail message.

Responding earlier this week to a student’s invitation to attend a student club event, John Daly, an adjunct instructor of Basic Writing and Developmental English, e-mailed the student with a host of his own personal beliefs. The student club event, sponsored by the Young American’s for Freedom, featured Iraq war veteran Lt. Col. Scott Rutter as a guest speaker.

WCCC President Dr. William Austin personally welcomed guests to the event, held on Thursday, and introduced Rebecca Beach, president and secretary of the newly formed club. Lt. Col. Rutter’s talk was well received, and deemed a success by attendees.

WCCC is further investigating Mr. Daly’s conduct and his expression of views in the classroom and on campus.

Indeed, Mr. Daly’s comments have caused much controversy on and off campus. Dr. Austin said, “I personally find Mr. Daly’s e-mail disgraceful and offensive, yet I must maintain that the college be a place for free expression, ideas, and open debate.”

Dr. Austin added, “We must remember that Mr. Daly is just one instructor out of many here. These are apparently his personal political views. He does not represent the college’s views, mission, and core values. We are a small community college and are here to serve the community and will continue to do so.”

The college will continue to keep its pulse on this issue while maintaining its high standards of professionalism and integrity of all concerned, noted Dr. Austin.

WCCC Chairman of the Board, Ed Smith, said, “We are fortunate to live in a world where so many brave men and women are willing to fight and die for our freedoms, including the right to express one’s opinions.”

I saw "The Killing Fields" years ago. Excellent counterpoint to the directors of "Hearts and Minds" who cheered for the Khmer Rouge when they accepted their Academy Award.

Warren County Community College to Hold an Emergency Meeting

The Board of Trustees of Warren County Community College will convene an emergency meeting of the Board, Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 6:30 PM. This meeting was called by Board Chair Edward Smith.

The Board of Trustees intends to consider the welfare and rights of its students, the college community, and the public in lieu of recent events. The Board will also consider personnel issues.

The college President, Dr. William Austin reiterates his statement that comments made by Mr. Daly are his own. The opinions Mr. Daly has expressed do not represent the views of the community college, administration, faculty, staff or students, nor do his views align with the college’s mission and core values.

College President Dr. Austin said, “The Board of Trustees’ meeting is scheduled for the first legally available date.”

All, in light of this Emergency Meeting of the Board of Trustees and considering the tone of this press release, I am far more optimistic than earlier this morning or at any time since this incident began.  I intend to send only one more email to the Board and to Mr. Austin, this time a more friendly note of encouragement and thanks for doing the right thing, and give them the benefit of doubt on this until the meeting adjourns on Tuesday evening.

It would seem that between the radio programs and the appearance on Hannity & Colmes, that Miss Breach may soon have the apology due her.

Cheers,
Lloyd

Mr. xxxxxx,

Thank you for your interest in the ongoing issue at our community college here in Warren County, NJ.

It is indeed unfortunate that something like this has happened. I do not appreciate the way that the instructor has treated our student nor do I agree with any of his positions.

I am not a member of the board of trustees of the college. I am a member of the county governing body which is similar to that of a county commissioner.

I am monitoring the situation closely and I am attaching my press release for your information.

Regards,

John DiMaio
