...College Students Rate President Bush Near Historic Lows, Harvard Poll Finds
newswire ^ | 11/16 | Esten Perez of Harvard University's Institute of Politics

A new national poll by Harvard University's Institute of Politics (IOP), located at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, finds that students -- like other Americans -- rate President George W. Bush at the lowest point in his presidency, and believe in record numbers that the country is off on the wrong track. With their mood souring, the poll also shows college students are less likely today to believe political engagement is an effective way to solve problems, and they are more skeptical of elected officials and the political process than they were just a year ago. Despite their pessimism, nine in ten college students believe that serving as an elected official is an "honorable" thing to do.

What do college students know about presidents and politics? When I was in college in the 60's all we cared about was beer and broads . Vietnam was there , we didn't like the idea, but the MAJORITY of us kept our GPA up so we didn't get a "GREETINGS" letter .

This is good news though. Perhaps these children will learn to be self-reliant instead of looking to the heavy hand of government.

Yep--Voted straight Republican since 72 'Also taught school for 35 years and did not indoctranate students to the Lib plablum . Had them look in a mirror on the way out of the classroom. Above it was the quote, " This person determines your grade and reputation ." Also, I was probably the only teacher in the district that had an NRA sticker on my classroom door . No one ever told me to remove it .
BTW Vietnam did NOTHING positive for the country. If you think it did, you live in a vacuum . I sure as hell will not visit that cesspool now that we have a open trade deal.

Someone needs to look into the Sallie Mae scam. Why exactly is college so expensive? Easy, becuase the Gov't and the banks pass out money like... (OK I have to say it) drunken sailors. Why does tuition go up and up? Because it can. Taxpayers are getting ripped off by the colleges and the banks. For what? So kids can go to school, waste time and get out with worthless degrees in "feel-good" pseudo-science and HUGE student loans. These kids don't stand a chance. And wait until they see what gets taken out of their meager paychecks to keep social security and medicare alive when the bulk of baby boomers start collecting. Do you think they'll remember that Bush tried to do something and empty heads like themselves generally opposed everything he tried? No way. I wouldn't want to be a college student these days. A hard rain's gonna fall on them.

What's more, only eleven percent (11 percent) say they trust the President to do the right thing all of the time, down from twenty-two percent (22 percent) from Fall 2001 IOP polling.

Any question using the phrase "trust the President to do the right thing all of the time" is programmed to gain an extremely negative response among liberals.

Fifty-two percent (52 percent) of college students said they trust the United Nations to do the right thing all or most of the time, while only thirty-nine percent (39 percent) said the same about the President.

Any question using the phrase "trust the United Nations nt to do the right thing all of the time" is programmed to gain an extremely positive response among liberals.

This poll is garbage.

I'd like to see what colleges were polled (I would suppose Berkely, Madison, WI, Boulder, CO and the elitist Ivy League schools were over represented) and what questions were asked.

For example, I could easily envision poll questions like this... "Knowing that Republican policies are changing the climate and that President Bush has stolen the last two elections and is conducting an illegal war of genocide in Iraq just to enrich Halburton and his oil exec pals, what do you think of the President's performance in office?"

University of Oklahoma College Republicans sold over 1,000 Dubya is my HomeBoy t-shirts this fall -- also gave away over 1,000 snow cones and have over 300 active members while the Dems here at OU are nowhere to be seen or heard.

OU CR's have raised so much money, they are hosting our County GOP fundraiser this Friday night with Dr. Coburn as the speaker. They are paying for the facility to be our host.

Maybe if these pollsters left both coasts, they would find a different story in flyover country but since they consider us a bunch of uneducated right wingers out here, not a chance they will poll in flyover country.

It's a damn shame that the MSM assault on Bush is taking hold. The Bush Admininstration should come out with all the good things that's going on. IE, progress in Iraq, the economy, lower gas prices, Alito, etc. The Republican Party should launch an all out media blitz now as it will be too late next year. My feeling is that with the exception of Rove & Cheney& Rice, Bush is surrounded by empty suits.
