A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

What you see is not always what you see. Wait and see, and you will see what I see.
You may think the picture below is just a snowy bunch of black and white specks, but come closer.... closer.... closer.... come closer, until you're about six to ten inches from your monitor. Are you there? Now you may need to sorta cross your eyes and stare in the middle of the picture for just a bit. Now back up...you should see an object jump forward, leaving the background far behind. Do you see what I see? (Dolly, you will like this one.) :)
Here's one in color, and it's a nice picture by itself - even more fun when you see what you'll see when you do what you did before. :)
Just one more, because I don't want your eyes to hurt like mine did when I was searching for stereograms.
A cup of tea, anyone?
Have fun! Tell me what you saw in the pictures!

Can you see the hidden 3D images? Takes practice.
Got your freepmail, Pippin. Thanks for including me in the mailing. Since I am pretty much tied up right now caring for my MIL, I will have to let one of the others post your "Thoughts" this time.
Have a nice day, Pip.

This one is unusual, can you guess what it is? It's a snail, right? :-)

:( I'm sorry. It's discouraging to try and try and never quite get the 3D effect. :( Now that's strange. Everywhere I go everything I see appears to be in 3D. Sometimes even 4 or 5D!
Can someone teach me how to see in 2D???

Now that's a good question.
I never thought to look, I always look in people's eyes.

Just so you don't fret.... it's not just these images. I've seen other images before and can't make them "work". ;-) Oh well - nice try...

I love these stereograms, was able to see all 3. I printed them out and showed them to others, wierd how not one of them can see the images. And, I gave them your instructions :-)

Had to do some research on why some folks can see stereograms and others can't. Found this
"The first thing I needed to know in order to figure that out was how to view real stereograms, and why some people can't see the hidden image. The first step to viewing a stereogram is to have stereo vision-in other words, two eyes that function as a team .
This leaves out people who have lost an eye, people with amblyopia (a "lazy eye") and people with strabismus (eye turns, such as "wall eyes" or "crossed eyes")
In theory, therefore, anyone who has two normal eyes can see a stereogram picture. Try to convince someone who's never been able to see one of that fact, however, and they'll never believe you. I know from personal experience that there are some people out there who, no matter how long they stare at a stereogram, simply don't see any hidden images, despite the fact that they have two functional eyes.
This is probably because those people are unable to perfect the viewing technique-most stereograms are drawn so that in order to see the hidden image, you have to focus your eyes on a point about twice as far away from you as the picture itself. This is called "parallel viewing," because the lines of sight of the eyes are almost parallel where they intercept with the stereogram picture. Parallel viewing is difficult for many people, simply because it requires the viewer to focus on an invisible point different from what they are looking at.
Another way of focusing on stereogram pictures is "cross viewing," in which the lines of sight of the eyes are crossed about halfway between the viewer and the picture. This way of viewing, however, produces images that look punched in rather than sticking out, unless the stereogram has been specifically made for cross viewing"

I just wasn't getting close enough o the screen. Practically had my nose on it. LOL
Thank you, sweetheart, neat wolf. : )

Darn! Not a single one you showed the pics to could see the images?! I wonder if it loses something in printing?
Am glad you see them - do try some of the others from this link: (they are fabulous!)

Oh well the prize for first place was a gift certificate at the dump...LOL Too funny!
I've seen pictures of some of yours posted before - that's why I asked if any of those first three were yours - knew you 'sculpted' with different kinds of stuff.
P.S. Of COURSE yours should have won! :)
These last two made out of scrap MATERIAL? A turkey, the first one?

I liked the explanation you posted for why some can't see them. After yesterday, I was even able to look at new ones without getting close to the monitor - just knew what to do with my eyes! :)
