Senator Jay Rockefeller Gave Syria Advance Warning Of Iraq War Intentions! (FNS Transcript)
Fox News Sunday (Transcript) ^ | 14 November 2005

WALLACE: ...in October of 2002 in which you authorized the use of force, you went further than the president ever did. Let's watch:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROCKEFELLER: I do believe that Iraq poses an imminent threat, but I also believe that after September 11th that question is increasingly outdated.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: Now, the president never said that Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat. As you saw, you did say that. If anyone hyped the intelligence, isn't it Jay Rockefeller?

ROCKEFELLER: No. I mean, this question is asked a thousand times and I'll be happy to answer it a thousand times. I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq, that that was a predetermined set course which had taken shape shortly after 9/11.

Now, the intelligence that they had and the intelligence that we had were probably different. We didn't get the presidential daily briefs. We got only a finished product, a finished product, a consensual view of the intelligence community, which does not allow for agencies — like in the case of the aluminum tubes, the Department of Energy said these aren't thick enough to handle nuclear power.

They left that out and went ahead with, "They have aluminum tubes and they're going to develop nuclear power."

WALLACE: Senator, you're quite right. You didn't get the presidential daily brief or the senior executive intelligence brief. You got the national intelligence estimate.

But the Silberman commission, a presidential commission that looked into this, did get copies of those briefs, and they say that they were, if anything, even more alarmist, even less nuanced, than the intelligence you saw...

And he IS the senior Dim on the Senate intel committee, so it's not as if he was "just guessing"...

-----
You are absolutely right. As the senior DemocRAT on that committee, he and the senior Repub get to see more information than any of the other members of THAT committee. He certainly has no excuse for being bamboozled. He, for one, should go sit down and shut up. The rest of them can fake that excuse, but not him.

Al-Assad confers with US Senator
Syria-USA, Politics, 1/8/2002

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at the Damascus al-Shaab palace on Monday received the US senator J. Rockefeller and members of the accompanying delegation.

The meeting was attended by the deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the US ambassador in Damascus Theodore Qattouf.

Discussions dealt with results implied by the incidents of September 11, 2001 in the US at the regional and international levels.

The President stressed that fighting terrorism should be based on analyzing reasons behind it, noting that the already debated concept of terrorism is a terrorism which is too far from Islamic values.

He explained that Syria's ancient history shows commitment of its peoples to divine religions. A matter which restores Syria's stability.

Senator Rockefeller expressed happiness to meet with President Bashar al-Assad. He said he feels content after talking to President Bashar al-Assad not only about Syria but about the ME region as a whole.

Senator Rockefeller also stressed the need of deeper understanding of the Arab culture and civilization and of Muslims.

I think I read on Free Republic that the RNC is going to run TV ads showing Bill Clinton, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi all on tape stating that Saddam was a threat..... Does anyone know when those ads are going to debut?

Now more of this stuff from the RNC, and they will actually justify giving donations to them!

...I become more and more of a Chris Wallace fan. He's im my estimation, one of the best...

Quite a difference between Chris Wallace and "cream puff Chris Mathews", eh? (I still can't understand how the latter Chris can survive this long on Sunday mornings with his pannel of 4+1 libs. Worthless!)

Wonder if the treasonous behavior of bill klinton during his years of making the WH his personal den of sewage, had numbed everyone down to the word 'treason'.

Jay should be shackled and thrown off the intelligence committee NOW.

He should be held accountable for his actions before the senate wherein he serves his state and nation.

And billy klinton, regardless of the fact that he no longer sits as president, should be chastized HUGELY in our senate and house via resolution for his TRAITOROUS, horrific, dangerous, upsetting comments about our war in IRaq against terrorists to a group of (NO LESS) ARAB STUDENTS in Dubai yesterday.

And senator durbin should be chastized on the floor of the senate as well...for his remarks comparing our courageous troops to a group of occupying nazis.

This men are the most cowardly, creepy, anti-american jerks going.

They shame our nation and rape all of us for their own percieved personal politcal gain.

Small men who will NEVER attain the status of statesmen because their agenda allows them to trash the very people who know the price of freedom to their core...our fabulous military.

"If this isn't treason, I don't know what is.

Imagine telling foreign heads of states, some of whom are NOT friendly to this country, what our military plans are.

We need a plan. An activist plan. Petitions. Phone calls. Letters.

I'm serious as a heart attack. This can not stand."

Yes. It's exactly as you say, and no one seems to be doing diddly about it. They're all just sittin' back, collecting their big bucks and pretending to be working. Politicians in individual states could do something, since they have access to the necessary forums. But they're not. I suppose everyone is just waiting for Judgement Day. However, those who could have done something to help and did not, will be answering for their inaction.

This a$$ h-le has committed TREASON! Why won't anyone investigate him?

I have been out of country for several months, and I am just getting updated on what in the hell is going on with these RINO'S and the mad rats who think it is alright to disclose to our enemies what we in the military are going to do. I would love to put a great big boot in the a$$ of J Rickheadfellow, but my foot is in a cast right now!

Oh yes. And let me add the whole William Kennedy Smith saga. You could write a book about this clown. Let's just suffice to say that he was involved in a rape case that happened on the same night that he was drinking with Sen. Ted Kennedy, and it happened in the same house where Ted was. William Kennedy Smith has been in and out of jail on various drug- and alcohol-related incidents, including aggravated assault.

We also don't have to go into the King of All Drunks, Ted Kennedy. You could write a set of encyclopedias on his alcohol-related incidents, including sexual harrassment, sexual assault, and at least one vehicular homicide while drunk.

Good name, my cracked backside. It just goes to show how far people will go to embrace a family while looking the other way at their indiscretions if the media manufactures them into celebrities. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
