It is reported, that on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, the California legislature will vote to secede from the Union.

If only it were true...then I could lead a squad to lay siege on Sacramento and take the city by storm.

Resistance would be light to nonexistent. After all, the Democrats ain't got guns.

My idea is to have Arizona adopt San Diego and Orange County.

All joking aside, I hope California secedes before it comes begging on hands and knees to Washington for my tax dollars.

This would be interesting news. I told my wife after the failed vote in CA, that Schwarzenegger should hold a major press conference and state, "Citizens of California, you have spoken, and I have heard the message loud and clear. I will now approve any and all tax increases, spending increases, and environmental or business regulations put to me by the legislature. Let it never be said that I do not listen to the people!"

Ahnold could leave that place a dried out husk and hardly anyone would even notice.

I think I'll stick around and be part of the underground resistance. Considering the opposition, it's not a very difficult or dangerous undertaking.

“He asked for it and we gave it to him,” fired Perata. “I hope he’s not too disappointed. Just wait till we secede from the Union. It’ll be one for the ages. Long live the Socialist Republic of California!”

How I wish my dad was a FReeper. He has known this man since they were kids.

This would be the best thing to happen to the US since the Louisiana Purchase. Democrats would lose 50+ electoral votes assuring Republican presidents for the next century.

Political Satirist Chris Davis is the author of Elective Decisions and In Defense of Liberty, two political thrillers from the Whiskey Creek Press.

The best humor is sometimes undistinguishable from reality.

The only reason I immediately suspected it is because just the other day I surmised that the rat party would never let CA secede.

The reason is because they would never win another Federal election if all of CA's electoral votes just suddenly dissappeared.

Still, even if those votes dissappeared, they'd probably demand some sort of "Election Fairness Doctrine". My guess is that the spineless pubbies would give it to them.

California declares independence.
The Union does not invade to bring them back into the fold. Most Americans feel we are better off without them.
California applies for and receives massive foreign aid from the USA.
