Mosque Attack in France
The Brussels Journal ^ | 2005-11-12 13:53 | Paul Belien

It is becoming difficult to give you news about the situation in France. Apart from a minor incident involving a mosque, the media have lost interest or are complying with censorship recommendations from their editors who fear that the public would turn to the “extreme-right” if it receives correct information. Perhaps our attempt to provide information qualifies us as “extreme-right” too. To avoid legal problems our lawyers advise us to put up a warning:

Political Content Warning If you are a Socialist or a Liberal, please stop reading NOW.

In the sixteenth consecutive night of violence in France, 502 cars were set alight. Hundreds of molotov cocktails were thrown at policemen, cars and buildings, including a mosque in Carpentras in the south of the country. In Belgium’s sixth consecutive night of car torching, fifteen cars, including one truck and a bus, were damaged by fire – eight of them in Brussels. The situation in Denmark seems to be tense as well.

In both Paris and Brussels the authorities are nervous because islamist weblogs have called for demonstrations and violent protests today. The French authorities have banned all rallies and protests until Sunday evening. The Belgian authorities do not want the media to report about the weblogs. In Paris and Brussels the police are on the alert.

Meanwhile, Amnesty International has said it is “concerned” that the state of emergency in France “may lead to human rights violations” by the French police. Yesterday, one policeman was jailed and four were suspended because they had beaten up a 19-year old “youth” in a Paris suburb. The “youth” had just been released from custody for involvement in riots and had returned to taunt the officers. The beating incident was filmed by the television channel France 2. The channel is one of the French media outlets that does not want to broadcast acts of violence committed by “youths” for fear of copycat actions. The media devote a lot of attention to the beating incident. Apparently there is no fear that this will lead to copycat behaviour by frustrated policemen.

There is also considerable media attention for two molotov cocktails thrown at a mosque in the southern town of Carpentras. Though there was no material damage the French authorities have strongly condemned the attack. “This act of agression is as undignified as it is unacceptable,” Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said. President Chirac and Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, too, condemned the agression “with the greatest firmness” and expressed solidarity with the Muslim community of France.

Earlier this week two churches were set ablaze, but the French government did not express solidarity with the Christians of France. The Jewish community has also been advised to keep quiet about attacks on synagogues lest they attract the attention of copycats. After the attacks, the French authorities did not explicitly express solidarity with the Jews but advised them “not to publicize their fears, as such declarations could encourage rioters to attack Jews and Jewish community buildings.” Apparently, the media and the politicians are convinced that copycats are never Christians or Jews, but always Muslims. Doesn’t that attitude smack of racism?

"On Friday evening, two Molotov cocktails were tossed into a mosque in the southern city of Carpentras, slightly damaging the porch, local officials said. It was not immediately clear whether the attack was linked to the unrest that has wracked the poor suburbs and towns of France since Oct. 27.

President Jacques Chirac asked investigators to find those behind the incident in Carpentras, a town grimly remembered for a 1990 neo-Nazi attack on a Jewish cemetery that sparked national outrage."

These French are Pathetic.

"Ten or twenty years ago Le Pen might have saved things. Now he's not extreme enough"

Well said. There's only one way to win in the end, and the UN's World Court would call it 'war crimes', if anyone does anything effective. And for some reason, while we all saw this coming, it's weird to see it HERE and NOW. England under attack. France under attack. England shooting down Blair's terror prpoposals. And at the same time, Jordanians calling for an al qaida leader to burn in hell.

To heap on a little more strangeness, I heard some of Rusty Humphrey too. The man's been witnessing acts of terror and counter terror in the Gaza Strip. Gee, what a great program they have going there. Terrorists are shooting rockets. And the Israeli military has fired at terrorists with artillery shells three times already.

Isn't there a serious concern that the riots will be hitting cenral Paris this weekend, too?

One mosque for each car.

I'll raise that, and go all in!

Members of Amnesty International are like Dodo birds. Some day a fascist government will ascend to political leadership at their base of operations and shoot the AI in mass. AI members have no sense about human predators.

Actually, I haven't seen or heard Amnesty International condemn any atrocities by Muslims. Like many organizations, they reserve their condemnation to people who might actually pay attention to them, as opposed to people who pay no attention to Amnesty International at all.

AI members have no sense about human predators.

Agreed. And notice that they only go after the "soft" targets, like the Western nations. You know - the ones who won't have them taken out and beheaded in the town square for criticizing the rulers.

Also, in regard to the "idealists" of Amnesty International: "The flip side of the coin of idealism is ARROGANCE."

the media have lost interest or are complying with censorship recommendations from their editors who fear that the public would turn to the “extreme-right” if it receives correct information.

The international MSM doesn't seem to be hiding this fact anymore, and their openness is beginning to turn off many who just want to do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may.

One mosque for each car. Sounds like a workable solution to me.

But at the rate they are going through cars there might be more cars then mosques in France. I suppose they could look for mosques elsewhere to compensate, like say in Mecca ?

Multiculturalism at its apex.

It's not "copy-cats" they're afraid of. It's Minutemen!

If something similar happens here, mosques are fair game.

You mean THE Channel 2 that publicized the lies which inflamed the world about the IDF killing a child named Mohammed Dura, from edited footage which they then refused to release despite numerous inquiries?

"After three years of research, more than 150 inquiries, interviews and analyses devoted to the France 2 report of September 30, 2000 at the Netzarim Junction, in the Gaza strip, the Ména has published a long series of revealing articles establishing the fraudulent nature of the reporting of this story.

'snip'

Until Friday, October 22, the numerous official appeals made by our agency to FR2 to view the 27 minutes of Abu-Rahma's footage, as well as our reiterated proposals to compare our respective materials, were refused. Furthermore, our agency, supported by the conclusions of our inquiry, has constantly asserted that Charles Enderlin's numerous declarations evoking the existence of this footage of pictures showing the child's death, that the permanent correspondent of FR2 says he edited in order to spare the television spectators, are a fabrication. We assert that they serve to confer an appearance of authenticity to a fictional event that it contributes to transform into an event reputed to be real."

the Secretary General of Amnesty International is a muslim, what else would you expect from her?

"Taking the helm in Amnesty International as the first woman, the first Asian and the first Muslim to guide the world’s largest human rights organization, Irene brought a new perspective to the organization. As an individual, she brought experience and enthusiasm for putting people at the heart of policy..."

For the past few years, beginning with the Palestinian Intifada in 9/2000, violent attacks against Jews and Jewish sites in France reached the highest levels since before WW2. The perps were Muslim youth. This was denied and ignored by French authorities and politicians for several years. Finally when there was some action on the part of police and politicians, after Chirac was re-elected, the judges meted out only mild sentences to the perps.

Things got so bad even the EU took note. They commissioned a study of anti-Semitism in 2003, the first on anti-Semitism, though there have been several on Islamaphobia. When the results showed large increases and that the perps were young Muslims they supressed the report refusing to publish it although copies were circulated on the internet. They tried to distort the findings and pin the increase on the far right nationalist elements.

IMO the current riots are an extension of that empowerment of Muslim violence. The riots began in Clichy-sous-bois where the Synagogue was repeatedly attacked by arson (2001 and 2002) and Jews have been repeatedly attacked.
