Poll: Most Americans Say Bush Not Honest
My Way News ^ | Nov 11 | Will Lester

WASHINGTON (AP) - Two crucial pillars of President Bush's public support - perceptions of his honesty and faith in his ability to fight terrorism - have slipped to their lowest point in the AP-Ipsos poll.

While the CIA leak investigation, the mishandling of Hurricane Katrina and high energy costs have all taken their toll, the polling found the Iraq war at the core of Americans' displeasure with the president.

All of those concerns are cutting into traditional Bush strengths.

This poll has a 51% Democrat sample.

Pollsters are dinosaurs these days. It's the high tech age. Today, not many people answer a land line telephone. The only people who'd still use that type of ancient technology are the unemployed or on social programs, i.e., the democrat base.

Pollsters can't contact as many employed people anymore. They have cell phones, Call Wave Answering machines when they're on the net, and if they have a land line at all for 56K dial ups, an answering machine is attached to filter those calls as well.
It takes a job and a paycheck to pay for all this extra stuff. The right wing base works, and that's why they're right wing. That's why the polls are always democrat heavy. The right wing is so hard to get a hold of.

Funny, Jacob, they never called me. I think he's as honest as the day is long. Democratic/Liberal projection at work again!

If this poll is an accurate reflection of America's opinions of President Bush, it is a testimony to how well the propaganda assault by the MSM and liberal democrats upon everything the Administration does, works upon the malinformed useful idiots.

He's honest. He told us so in his Veterans' Day speech. Case closed.

So what happen to the videos of the WTC being slammed over and over and over one week after 9/11? Where is the hot speeches to mobilize and sustain the emotions of the people? Congress committed the Commander in Chief to commit the Army to war. Nothing was done to hype up the people for war. If we were emotionally mobilized and sustained like WWII, 2000 KIA would not faze us a bit, the left and MSM would have to try much harder to demoralize us. Three years later we went from 70 percent support to below 50 percent.

"GWB made a mistake by trying to fight a war in Iraq without mobilizing the country for war."

Bush could never whipped up that kind of on going support for the war because he was already at war with the left. The left would never forgive him for winning the first election, regardless of his noble intentions of fighting terrorism, and they still continue to dog him. I think Bush was a realist to say that it might take ten years to resolve the terrorist problem... but whipping up a nation for ten years to fight an entrenched war stretches human limits. In today's high paced age the public wants high speed results... it ain't gonna happen with this war.

Hey, watch it! I have and use a regular phone. I am NOT a damned Dem/Liberal and I am NOT on welfare.

My laptop isn't connected ti the phone and when my WebTV was, it was to a third phone line, which was never used for anything else.

And I have NEVER, not EVER, been called by a political pollster.

Don't make up things, with which to "prove" your position!

If the LMSM used their standards for Bush, the poll to crucify Christ would show a 60% approval rating.

VeniVidiVici, I agree with you completely.

Those of you here who see Bush as corrupt as any other politician are taking the liberal line hook line and sinker.

The Bush Administration is the most ethical administration in years. The liberals are practicing what is called "projection". They were supporters of what was possibly the most corrupt adminstration in the history of this nation. They certainly did more deliberate damage to our national security than any other.

They are outraged that they cannot paint this current administration as corrupt, and how they have tried. They have failed for the simple reason that THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS NOT CORRUPT.

Amateur hour ended in the year 2000. There are adults in the White House now, and they have been dealing with serious issues, not "Gays in the Military". They have had to be serious and have been consumed.

You can disagree with their stand on immigration. You can be at the opposite end of the spectrum on spending, you can be 100% against the way he handled the Supreme Court nominations, you can be a polar opposite on the war...you can be appalled by the Campaign Finance Reform that he signed (as I am)...you can disagree with him on EVERYTHING.

But you CANNOT call him dishonest.

The Liberals have a plan and they have been executing it in tandem with the MSM (Because the MSM and liberals are the same thing...). They plan to go negative, all the time, on every single issue under the sun. They are going going to throw mud against the wall every single day. They are not going to let a day pass without something negative. The war. The economy. Immigration. Corruption. Cronyism. Katrina. The Tsunami. Casualties. Abu Ghraib. Guantanamo. Torture. Human rights. Education spending. Global Warming. Corporate America. Voter Fraud. High Gas prices. Price Gouging. Blood for oil. And so on. When they run out of things to be negative about, they will start at the beginning and run through every one of them again. Every single day, they are going to lie, because they think nobody is going to hold them accountable for what they say. We might at FR, but NBC, CBS, ABC, NYT, LA Times and The Boston Globe are not only going to give them a pass, but are in on the concept.

The real downside of this is that with this strategy, nothing can get done in government. It isn't as though they were presenting plans of their own. They have completely given up the ghost on even attempting to be constructive. Of course, the Liberals have shown themselves to be the ideology that is completely devoid of new ideas and original thought.

The Liberals are attempting a death by a thousand cuts, and folks, they are succeeding. It is working. The average American who hears this day after day cannot distinguish truth from reality. Some don't have the tools to do so. Some don't have the time to do so. And some don't have the inclination to do so.

It is up to all of us in our everyday life, at work, at home and here on Free Republic to counteract this attack from the Left. It was nice to see the President begin to fire back today, but he and his team need to do more of it.

The Liberals are not interesting in fixing anything. Their nihilistic approach would tear down this country with nothing to put up in its place. They are not interested in being part of a team. The President and his team need to get that through their heads...it is a lost cause. Time to play hardball, scorched political earth to the hilt. They have shown a complete and total willingness to kick the President squarely in his privates. He needs to pick himself up and kick back just as hard.

I said:

What I meant to say (and I presume most would pick it up) is that the average American who hears this day after day cannot distinguish the LIBERAL LIES from reality...

It can't be in their interests to do push polling

Of course it can SillySally". :o) Market research is a terrific base to jump into political polling from. The average American is so gullible that an expert in marketing can phrase a poll question just so - he/she can take the slant as far as he wants. Polls are political and media driven and I don't trust either, do you?

This is so depressing, but that's what happens when you refuse to defend yourself (or your friends), as is the practice of George Bush. He's become his father. There was a bit of a spark today, but he needs to go on the campaign trail and call out his accusers every single day, specific by specific. If he doesn't do this, he may as well turn out the lights.

If we think the MSM are dead, powerless and not trusted, we are completely deluding ourselves.

The good news is...it's getting less powerful and less trusted. And even a little hated.

But if you watch, even around here, people tend to believe what they read/hear in the msm until someone else comes along with an alternate viewpoint or completing facts.

That is why what the President did today must be done over and over and over. He can not depend on the press to be fair, he can not depend on the Democrats or Republicans in Congress to take responsibility for their own actions, he can not depend on Americans to remember what it was like six months ago, let alone four years ago.

It's sad really. I think he has more faith in the American people than we deserve.
