It keeps looking less and less likely that Santorum will be able to pull this one out...

20 points is nothing to sneeze at.

he should drop out and let Tom Ridge take a crack at it. We need to do our own "Toricelli" to save this seat.

Why has Santorum suddenly become so unpopular in Pennslyvania?

i'll be amazed if any challenged repubs keep their seats. months and months of negitive press , lies , hypocrisy goes unchallenged by the party and the WH. hey mr. bush no play no win. they are pathetic and will get what they deserve. they are better as a minority party , which in 2 or 3 cycles they will again become. sad.

Rick Santorum is NOT unpopular in PA. Casey's seminar posters--pimply-faced adolescent Dem students--are flooding the net today with this bushwa.

You wouldn't happen to be one of them, would you, newbie???

Why has Santorum suddenly become so unpopular in Pennslyvania?

Beuase he supported Spectre when asked to do so by President Bush in 2004. He's no longer 'perfect' and is therefore despised by PA 'true' conservatives.

Just what we need, another pro-abortion North East liberal Republican in the Senate.

Must be a pretty big conspiracy to cover all major polling organizations...

Casey has not had a moment of bad press since he announced he's running. When Santorum, the RNC, the RSCC and the State of PA Repub party start slamming him Santorum will catch up quickly.

Rick Santorum is NOT unpopular in PA.

I hope you're right because Santorum is one of my favorites! I've had numerous arguments here on FreeRepublic about him with so-called PA Conservatives who seem to just hate the guy because of the 2004 election. Their position is totally irresponsible and illogical...maybe they're not what they seem.

Ridge as a senator isn't going to decide anything regarding abortion.

who do you think is more likely to support an anti Roe supreme court justice - Ridge, or the Democrat you seem to want to help elect?

Santorum doesn't have the nomination yet...in fact, the primary isn't for another six months, so it is a little early to be talking about the "Torch" option.

Republicans are always behind in the polls this far out in PA statewide elections. The gap closes near the election, but they don't pull ahead until the second 50% of the precincts report on election day (rural and western PA).

I love Santorum, but even if he loses, I won't be too sad. He has a large family to support and is far from independently wealthy like a lot of other senators. He will make more money in the private sector.

its not that santorum is that unpopular, its that casey jr is very popular. if he would have ran against specter, he would have beaten him by 10 points. people associate him with his father and think hes the same type of guy. make no mistake, bob casey jr is not his dad.

the position makes no sense to me either because president bush stumped for specter and put his support behind him 100%. if they hate santorum because he supported specter then they need to hate president bush because he did the same exact thing.

Your arguement is specious. Using your logic I'd be able to talk myself into any number of morally reprehensible predicaments. Thank God I'm not you.
