It keeps looking less and less likely that Santorum will be able to pull this one out...
20 points is nothing to sneeze at.

he should drop out and let Tom Ridge take a crack at it. We need to do our own "Toricelli" to save this seat.

Why has Santorum suddenly become so unpopular in Pennslyvania?

i'll be amazed if any challenged repubs keep their seats. months and months of negitive press , lies , hypocrisy goes unchallenged by the party and the WH. hey mr. bush no play no win. they are pathetic and will get what they deserve. they are better as a minority party , which in 2 or 3 cycles they will again become. sad.

Casey has not had a moment of bad press since he announced he's running. When Santorum, the RNC, the RSCC and the State of PA Repub party start slamming him Santorum will catch up quickly.

Republicans are always behind in the polls this far out in PA statewide elections. The gap closes near the election, but they don't pull ahead until the second 50% of the precincts report on election day (rural and western PA).
I love Santorum, but even if he loses, I won't be too sad. He has a large family to support and is far from independently wealthy like a lot of other senators. He will make more money in the private sector.

Why don't you shrinking violets quit the belly aching. There is a year before the 2006 election. There is plently of time to educate voters in PA. We are in a Republican down cycle now which will change and Santorum has always been behind before he's been ahead.

My take on why Casey is so far out in front. My take...Pennsylvania has more 'seasoned citizens' than any state but Foriduh and more than a two to one margin of Democrats to Republicans. Casey, Jr.'s, dad the lateRobert Casey was the last of the socially conservative, fiscally liberal, Irish Catholic politicians in the Commonwealth. Junior won his terms in Harrisburg on name recognition (maybe some of our more seasoned voters think he is his dad when entering the poll). If you have ever heard Junior speak...well, lets be kind and say he did not get dad's oratory skill. Casey Jr. has great name recognition, and I would guess that some think he is the original.

Gee, those figures look a lot like Kilgore vs. Kaine a year ago.

Santorum was lucky to have had two elections against inferior Democrats...decrepit Harris Wofford and non-entity Ron Klink....if Rendell had run for Senator last time, he would have beaten Santorum...Rick is too conservative for PA, simple as that.
