Casey needs to be backed into a corner on these issues and forced to take a stand. Agreed. Right now he's gets to have his cake and eat it too, getting the liberals who hate Santorum and the conservatives who like Santorum but loved Casey senior.

They couldn't even bring themselves to get in front of the popular uprising against the payraise THat's because the colluded with the dems to illegally push the pay raise through in the first place, and then kept defending the damn thing to boot.
I know I'm voting against the incumbents in the primary in MAY.. I have had it with the arrogance of the elected leaders in this state.

We thank you for standing strong, and being true to conservative principles.
But it isn't a big deal if you stand up when there's no advantage to not standing up.
It's when you stand up for what is right, even when others who don't get rewarded, that you are truly noble.
Don't give in to temptation.

If it weren't so tragic, it would be funny to hear all the "Party" and "Loyalty" crowd shouting how Santorum should have dissed an incumbent for a challenger, possibly opening up the seat to a Dem.

I was going to say...I live two miles from the Delaware River and AFAIK no one here in the southeast keeps their boats in PA...they're all either in NJ or DE.
One other thing I want to point out Re: Santorum is that Rendell will be campaigning for Casey. It's something that needs to be taken into account.

Yeah, I watched it on TV blowing things down north of ya'll in Baytown, which IIRC got 85+mph gusts.

The ostriches would rather pretend there's no problem and just whine when Hillary has her way.

... We need to turn the Santorum race into a referendum on these issues...This sounds reasonable and and likely to be effective. How do we do it?

I never suggested he did it for a $2000. donation. This is the first time I ever heard of that. I can just tell you that NOAA marine forecasts are vital to boaters and something many have relied upon for years. It would be the same if suddenly, we were told that no more land weather reports would be available unless you pay for the service. OOps, sorry about that tornado that just hit your house, but you chose not to pay for a weather report.

I hardly think pleasurecrafters going fishing or going to the Point to see the fireworks really need specialized weather forcasts provided by the gov't. I wonder how people knew what the weather was like in the days before the federal government told them .....

Did Toomey also screw the pooch when he supported Specter after he lost the primary?

I moved to PA almost 3 years ago from Cape Cod, Mass & at first I believed I was actually living in a red state (anything would be better than Mass)but the longer I live here, the more I'm disappointed. Needed to head a little further south or west, ma'am.

Did Toomey also screw the pooch when he supported Specter after he lost the primary? At that point, Toomey had no pooch. He had no incumbancy OR candidacy. Nothing to lose.

THat's because the colluded with the dems to illegally push the pay raise through in the first place, and then kept defending the damn thing to boot. Yeah. But after it became clear that the anger was not going away, when the state GOP held its convention they refused to allow a resolution calling for repeal to be voted on by the delegates.
And now they think they can reverse themselves. Even the Post-Gazette has them figured out. They put in a non-severability clause and they lowered the court's salary as well. That is unconstitutional (can't have the legislature changing the court's salary mid-term), so the entire pay raise repeal should get tossed out.
They still think they are being more clever than us.
I know I'm voting against the incumbents in the primary in MAY.. I have had it with the arrogance of the elected leaders in this state.
I'm voting against the incumbents period. All of them.

Toomey defended the ticket. What did you expect him to do? The choice was between pro-abort Republican and pro-abort Democrat.

Yeah, we also have TV stations, newspapers and the internet, all of which provide weather for free. I hardly think pleasurecrafters going fishing or going to the Point to see the fireworks really need specialized weather forcasts provided by the gov't.
And where do you think these TV stations, newspapers, and internets get their weather data from? I'm not sure what you mean by "specialized weather forecasts," but unless you own one of the 350,000 registered boats in Pennsylvania, you don't really know what you are talking about.
And again, if there is a major problem, an emergency warning, this information is quite obviously made public.
The reason they are called "forecasts" is because they help you know before an emergency strikes what the weather conditions might be.
