A Demoralized FreeRepublic. What is the Solution? (Vanity)

The tone on FR is very demoralized. Liberals and their media unfortunately have succeeded in demoralizing a large number of freepers. From their constant savage attacks on the President and the Republican Party with lies and distortions, to their biased polls, to blaming the President for everything under the sun, many freepers are feeling very demoralized. They are further demoralized because President Bush is not fighting back, because the RINOS in Congress are screwing thing up for the President agenda. Add to that a huge numbers of trolls who infiltrated FR in 2004 and 2005 to divide and demoralize by creating doom and gloom, and piling on the President and the GOP.

So what are the solutions for the demoralization problem?

(1) Stop the knee jerk reaction every time the liberal media write an article telling us that President Bush and the GOP are finished. Stop taking every biased poll as the end of all. No doubt that the President approval is down but no doubt that the polls are so biased to take 6 or 7 points more from his approval numbers. Never before we have had so many polls coming in an off election year and the reason for this is very simple. The media is doing all these biased polls to demoralize the Republican base and it is succeeding to “some” degree as we see from the knee jerk reaction of many freepers. The media is taking any event that is happening and distort it with the most negative spin to demoralize us. Rather than falling for the media lies, distortions and very negative spin we must take anything they write or say turn it around on them and destroy all their lies and spin.

(2) Ask the White House to fight back the lies and distortions of liberal and their media whores. How do we do this? Demand replacing Scott Maclelan? Besides new junkies like us how many people listen to Scott Maclelan? Ask the President to hold a press conference every week to expose the lies liberals and their media? Do you want the President to spend his time fighting every lie and distortion made by liberals and their media? How can we guarantee that the media will cover what the President is saying or what any of his spoke people are saying? Can they just ignore what is he saying?

(3) Put pressure on the RINOS to stop screwing the President agenda. How do we do this? Ask the White to twist their arms? What if the RINOS say to the White House “Screw you”? Ask the GOP leadership in Congress to twist their arms? What if the RINOS also tell them “Screw you”?

(4) Purge the trolls who infiltrated FR in large numbers in 2004 and 2005. These trolls are not necessarily someone who spread Dummy crap on FR. They put on a phony conservative mask and bash the President and the GOP on every occasion. Their main goal is to divide and demoralize. Their job is to spread doom and gloom. Purging these guys can stop a lot of the infighting and the demoralization that is going on. We need to report these trolls to the mods and do not let them get away with this.

I think the interesting thing would be to closely watch these election treads, because it is within these that FR will find any remaining MD4Bush types.

There is a fine line here between those that are temporarily upset over loses and those from places like DU that are trying to act like energy vampires to our spirits.

Your thread about elections and others have additional side benefits that most haven't considered yet!
It's going to be fun in a week to review these and see how many DUers exposed themselves by all the needless negative posting. :-)

Funny thing is the fact that most DUmmies didn't have any love for F'n Kerry. They only voted for him because that's who the democrats gave them.

Our problem simply reflects the danger of incumbency, and that is the tendency to go on the defensive and start maintaining a status quo mindset.

What we need to be doing is getting the aggressive mindset back. Picking liberal and democratic targets, and making their lives miserable again. Go on the offensive.

The solution is to get on the "rioting in Europe" threads and make fun of the French: that always cheers me up.

LOL, ain't that the truth.

I think you are reading too much into the moods of some doom and gloomers.

You know, the ONES that live the myth that Conservatives are NATURAL pessimists...

Regarding #3-- stop sending money to Republican National Committee, Congressional Committee, etc., and tell them why. They will get the message much sooner if money is withheld. They have stopped calling me, as i don't hold back and give them an earful!

We are still considered a grass roots activist group but the level of real activism has declined to the point that many don't even realize what can be done. Outside of the DC Chapter and the other city chapters with in the streets activities the is no activism of which I am aware.

This lack of direction and purpose results in apathy and complacency.

Any activity would be good. A fax campaign to notify Rokefeller who claimed he was an American citizen that it has been revoked by popular demand.

I say we need more "Could be worse. Could be helen thomas" threads. I know it's a worse case scenario, but it always uplifts me when I am confronted by her picture. Somehow I find the strength to pull myself up and try harder. Smile more, wash my hair regularly, shave my legs, visit the Merle Norman counter. I don't want to end up like her. Demented, depraved, demoralized, and drop-dead ugly.

One only need to look at the unrestrained jubilee among democrats and liberals at the fact that two states that voted for democrats for governor during the last election (GASP!) have voted for democrats again to see how weak they really are. The status quo, it seems, is worthy of breathless celebration to democrats who are running to anyone who'll listen to pontificate about a DNC return to power in 2008. Not a chance. Demoralized? Nope. Energized!

This is a good point. 2005 was the first year since 1998 in which the left did not lose ground. They should be celebrating. The hemorrhaging has, for at least a year, stopped. Also, five years of relentless Old Media attacks on the President have hurt. The Old Media still has some life left and they are using their power with vengeance.

OTOH, we always take it in the neck between even year elections because of the Old Media monopoly (during that period) on news and setting issues. Then election time comes around, we buy airtime and remind the voters what the left is really about. The polls change.

Furthermore, all they are celebrating is that the left stopped losing ground. The likely results in 2006 are we hold the house with a slighly reduced majority and we lose one seat net in the Senate. But the net loss is Lincoln Chafee. Big deal. He's more left than half of the dems in the Senate.

If the incumbents don't suffer big setbacks in the off-year election in the second term of a president, that is a BIG victory. That means we have broken the left's serve and that the country is probably a slightly Red country for some time to come.

I'll take that and come back to fight again in 2008.

"--Picking liberal and democratic targets, and making their lives miserable again. Go on the offensive."

I agree. I think the point has been made lately to the team that conservative principles are successful. CINO's will fail to steer the public at large because compromising with liberals always fails horribly.

You have to understand how the game is played.

In an election, your choice is not to choose the perfect candidate but the better candidate -- or run yourself, and see how popular your position is -- since you presumably claim to speak for others.

And that is the crime of today's mainstream media -- is that they are not asking us what we think -- but telling us what to think by their phony polls, bogus experts, and manipulation of the news and opinions. These abuses are not isolated incidents but is the heart and soul of contemporary mainstream media.

This media would like us dignifying their deceptions and accusations by arguing them as though they were established facts -- rather than ignoring them and tending to the real work and battles. It's the tactic used by the tabloid newspapers; they print these outrageous stories knowing that people with full lives can't spend all day defending themselves against every asshole opinion -- or their lives are controlled by the others, and every other.

If you've ever been successful at anything -- or been in public life, you'll find others eager to tear one down in every way they can imagine, as their personal vendetta, personal obsession, their own claim to fame. You can't cure all the mental illness in the world -- personally, even if you're the President.

I'm not demoralized. I'm actually more encouraged these days than I've ever been. Is it because I'm crazy? Oh no. It is because I see progress being made in the promotion of traditional American values in comparison to previous years, and I also see progress made in the effort to pierce the cloud of lies put out by the leftwing establishment. For example, the all-out smear campaign againt George W., especially before the 2004 election, was like nothing I've ever seen in my lifetime. It was non-stop from the day he took office in 2001. George W. could do no right. He was stupid. He was a draft dodger. He lied and people died etc. etc. etc. - the most relentless propaganda campaign I've ever seen. And guess what? He STILL WON in 2004. To me that signals the end of an era when the lefty mainstream media could dictate American political thought. Now, granted, Kerry would never have had the close showing in the election that he did if it weren't for the complete complicity of the media, so there is still much work to be done, but he was defeated and that's what matters.

With all that in mind, I'll say that one of the reasons that I am not demoralized is because my loyalty is to conservative principles, rather than to any individual candidates, and I'm used to the uphill battle that is conservatism. I'm a CA native, for God's sake. However, those who put all of their faith in men will be disappointed and possibly demoralized when those men fail or perform inadequately. This may be why so many of the blind faithful may be getting demoralized - because some of the criticisms against the one they have blind faith in have a lot of truth to them. Bush is a good example of this. I respect the man and I voted for him twice, but I am aware that he has some policy flaws, so I can hear criticisms about him without having my world shattered, whereas some of those who see Bush as the great savior cannot tolerate any criticism because they need him to be perfect.

Don't believe the spin!!

Reference the 2005 elections: We had a net gain of one Lt. Governor. Yes, we had hopes for one or maybe even a two Governor pickup, but a gain is a gain. Virginia is still a red state and the Governor is limited by law to only one term. We'll likely pick it up in 4 years. The Democrats had to run as if they were Republicans to win or get close. So we are winning the idea war.

New Jersey: Depending on who Corozine appoints to fill his Senate seat, we may have a real shot at a pickup.

California: Most of the initiatives came close and we made them spend $100M to maintain the status quo. We can bring them up again and again.

Ohio: We shot down their initiatives and maintained the status quo.

Texas: Another net pick up. We got the Marriage proposition through.

Bush's poll numbers: Don't believe the fake ones in the 30's. He is still in the mid 40's. Unlike what the Dem's and the press say, he has to move right and not left to get his poll numbers higher. Bush will be back on offense in January, so hold on through the bumps at the end of the year.

The war in Iraq and on Terrorism: We are on schedule, on plan. We may be doing a little too well. The next couple of months will help determine that. Once we get rid of some more of the Clinton era promoted leadership, things will run a little more smoothly. Protracted combat helps get combat leaders promoted instead of butt kissers. The State department people over there are a real problem, but the Iraqi's have built their own momentum now.

The vote for the war: It is not the Republicans with a problem. It is the Democrats. A lot of them are in hot water for their pro-war vote and speeches when it comes to the new left wing power/money in their party. They are trying ever excuse to get out of their predicament. The main ploy: "I am so stupid that G.W.Bush duped me into voting for the war."

Afghanistan is going well, Iraq is going well, Libya is going well, Lebanon is going well, several of the Middle East and Asian ('stans) are moving slowly but distinctly towards democracy. We had the Rose and Orange revolutions. Freedom is winning around the world, to the chagrin of the world's left.

"Chasing out all who disagree with your views is not the way to win elections."

Practicing conservatism is the way to win elections, as Reagan knew. Compromising with pseudo-sophisticate socialist ideas is the way to lose elections, as Bush the Elder may now know.

Here's your post:

I read your vanity and wonder what drugs you are taking.

Even here in California where nothing in the way of propositions passed we are seeing a major victory with a great victory coming in 2006.

The democrats/employee government unions have just spent all their money and borrowed all kinds of money playing defense against the propositions and they are now BROKE.

Way to go Arnold, even Ronald Reagan lost to the unions this way 38 years ago in California and came back to become President, to bring on the Reagan revolution and to collapse the evil empire.

Well, Arnold and the conservatives of California are fighting our own version of the evil empire and they just spent away their futures in 2005 and are extremely exposed for 2006.

All we have to do is put again all kinds of propositions on the ballot and we will divide and conquer.
The Democrats need union money and there is little.
The unions need to defend any propositions against them in defense and they are much broker for 2006.

Time to put a stake through their political hearts in 2006 and to enjoy their defeat.
We need only place the propositions on the ballots and moderately show up and they lose.

I'm pumped, so your vanity need not apply to California, thanks! :-)

WOW!! I've heard of rosy scenarios, but your perspective is a veritable Kew Royal Gardens of rosy-picturedom!

And what's with the gratuitous swipe at the guy in your opening line?

Maybe the rest of us should wonder what drugs YOU are on.
