A Demoralized FreeRepublic. What is the Solution? (Vanity)
Nov/10/05 | jveritas

The tone on FR is very demoralized. Liberals and their media unfortunately have succeeded in demoralizing a large number of freepers. From their constant savage attacks on the President and the Republican Party with lies and distortions, to their biased polls, to blaming the President for everything under the sun, many freepers are feeling very demoralized. They are further demoralized because President Bush is not fighting back, because the RINOS in Congress are screwing thing up for the President agenda. Add to that a huge numbers of trolls who infiltrated FR in 2004 and 2005 to divide and demoralize by creating doom and gloom, and piling on the President and the GOP.

So what are the solutions for the demoralization problem?

(1) Stop the knee jerk reaction every time the liberal media write an article telling us that President Bush and the GOP are finished. Stop taking every biased poll as the end of all. No doubt that the President approval is down but no doubt that the polls are so biased to take 6 or 7 points more from his approval numbers. Never before we have had so many polls coming in an off election year and the reason for this is very simple. The media is doing all these biased polls to demoralize the Republican base and it is succeeding to “some” degree as we see from the knee jerk reaction of many freepers. The media is taking any event that is happening and distort it with the most negative spin to demoralize us. Rather than falling for the media lies, distortions and very negative spin we must take anything they write or say turn it around on them and destroy all their lies and spin.

(2) Ask the White House to fight back the lies and distortions of liberal and their media whores. How do we do this? Demand replacing Scott Maclelan? Besides new junkies like us how many people listen to Scott Maclelan? Ask the President to hold a press conference every week to expose the lies liberals and their media? Do you want the President to spend his time fighting every lie and distortion made by liberals and their media? How can we guarantee that the media will cover what the President is saying or what any of his spoke people are saying? Can they just ignore what is he saying?

(3) Put pressure on the RINOS to stop screwing the President agenda. How do we do this? Ask the White to twist their arms? What if the RINOS say to the White House “Screw you”? Ask the GOP leadership in Congress to twist their arms? What if the RINOS also tell them “Screw you”?

(4) Purge the trolls who infiltrated FR in large numbers in 2004 and 2005. These trolls are not necessarily someone who spread Dummy crap on FR. They put on a phony conservative mask and bash the President and the GOP on every occasion. Their main goal is to divide and demoralize. Their job is to spread doom and gloom. Purging these guys can stop a lot of the infighting and the demoralization that is going on. We need to report these trolls to the mods and do not let them get away with this.

Bingo. The thing is, we win some, we lose some, but we continue to make progress (far too much of it to list here). The only ones who think we're losing (and should be demoralized) are the libs and the media--but wait, that's redundant.

6) Stop pretending that all posts critical of Bush are from non-conservatives. A look at date of joining and posting history will make that clear.

Bush may not be a RINO, but he often is a CINO.

From my perspective I think there is a difference between those who are critical of our President on certain issues and those who have an entire laundry list of everything he's done wrong followed by comments about leaving the Republican party, going to vote Dem next time, blah blah blah.

You are absolutely correct that we must remain true to our principles and speak up when we disagree with what's going on. But like in a marriage, I can tell my husband, in a constructive manner that something he is doing (or not doing) is upsetting me. It is quite another thing to scream "I'm going to divorce you if you don't...." every time he does something I disagree with.

I don't know if that's a good analogy, but hey, I tried. LOL :)

Um, I respectfully disagree. In fact, I see basically the opposite - far from being demoralized, I see conservatives energized and ready to fight for principle and convictions while the left remains shrill and accusatory.

One only need to look at the unrestrained jubilee among democrats and liberals at the fact that two states that voted for democrats for governor during the last election (GASP!) have voted for democrats again to see how weak they really are. The status quo, it seems, is worthy of breathless celebration to democrats who are running to anyone who'll listen to pontificate about a DNC return to power in 2008. Not a chance. Demoralized? Nope. Energized!

I was frankly quite proud of my own state of Texas on Tuesday, for voting in a Constitutional marriage amendment that defined marriage as between one man and one woman, 76%-24%. Ohio Republicans prevailed when all four Democrat-supported propositions went down in flames. Demoralized? Nope. Energized!

I am giddy over the fact that the president's SCOTUS nominee is giving demcrats caniptions because they can't pigeonhole him as a radical rightwinger. Alito is going to sail through the confirmation process at least as easy as Roberts did. Demoralized? Nope. Energized!

The political process in Iraq is proving stronger than the insurgency as the Iraqis yet again pointed 10 million purple middle fingers at Bin Laden and the US left when they went again to polls and voted for their Constitution. Demoralized? Nope. Energized!

I can't wait, frankly, to salt the fields of Carthage by putting the screws to the Democrats yet again in 06 and 08...I'm predicting it right now - Republicans will maintain control over both houses in 06, and republican will be in the white house on January 21 of 2009.

I say these things not because I am demoralized, no - I say them because I am ENERGIZED! BRING IT ON!

DJ

Well said; most of the perceptive people can see through these manipulations as well.

In the voluminous reading we all do now, what is the line of demarcation is that there are those who bring joyous news and those who see life as eternal misery -- and want everybody else to feel that way too.

Disproportionately, a lot of these morbid personality types infest mainstream media -- so the gloom and doom they wish to propagate is their values and culture of despair and futility. Many of them grew up in a generation in which they were taught that the goal of every American citizen is to become the President of the United States, and if they aren't, they are obvious (and very public) failures. Those who are the most bitter, resentful and envious, are those who have to witness and interview successful people all day -- as the journalists have to, which only serves to remind them of their own failure.

Increasingly, like "Walter Mitty," the journalist themselves become the object of their stories of imagined virtue and triumph -- while the real world is portrayed as the fake. Although most of the readers do not know these journalists personally, other than what they tell of themselves as the glorious defenders of everything good and great in America, they unfortunately have to go in to pick up their paychecks and confront the mocking stares of those who do know them personally.

Since it is no longer politically correct to kick the blind man in the snack bar, they feel justified in taking all their own frustrations, fears and failures on the symbol of ultimate success and accomplishment in society, which is of course, the President.

I read your vanity and wonder what drugs you are taking.

Even here in California where nothing in the way of propositions passed we are seeing a major victory with a great victory coming in 2006.

The democrats/employee government unions have just spent all their money and borrowed all kinds of money playing defense against the propositions and they are now BROKE.

Way to go Arnold, even Ronald Reagan lost to the unions this way 38 years ago in California and came back to become President, to bring on the Reagan revolution and to collapse the evil empire.

Well, Arnold and the conservatives of California are fighting our own version of the evil empire and they just spent away their futures in 2005 and are extremely exposed for 2006.

All we have to do is put again all kinds of propositions on the ballot and we will divide and conquer.
The Democrats need union money and there is little.
The unions need to defend any propositions against them in defense and they are much broker for 2006.

Time to put a stake through their political hearts in 2006 and to enjoy their defeat.
We need only place the propositions on the ballots and moderately show up and they lose.

I'm pumped, so your vanity need not apply to California, thanks! :-)

On another thread, I noted that I have recently taken to challenging the businesses that advertise in our local fish-wrap.

Whenever I take exception to an editorial, or an op-ed by a staff propagandist, not only do I contact the paper; I contact an advertiser with whom I've done business in the past and ask them if they agree with the paper's position. It has been an eye-opening experience on both sides. More often than not, I've sensed anxiety on the part of business owners when they realize they are being associated with half-baked, leftist positions. Congresscritters are even more skittish than business owners in this regard.

Bottom line--There are more of us than there are conservatives in Washington. As such, I think it is our responsibility to defend our beliefs and advance our agenda.

Get involved--Write/call your local/state/national representatives, register to vote, register like-minded folks to vote, support solid conservative candidates, run for office if you're so inclined, do your homework so you can reject every liberal premise and defeat every liberal argument.

If you need inspiration, read 1776.

Crawling to my rack in thevening, darkness:
gloom, despair & agony on me, deep dark depression that's all I ever see,
if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all,
gloom, despair, agony on me . . . . . .

But then the Morning Wood Fairy makes everything all right!
