Has the Indian Ocean really been renamed the Arabian Sea? It seems like I've seen that other places lately.

...I challenge anyone on this site to name me the last important battle won by french troops with a french officer leading them.... The Battle for Algiers, January 28, 1957.
Though the French were eventually driven out by Muslims in 1962...they won the battle under the leadership of Colonel Mathieu....who was in charge of the campaign.
To: SMARTY
Dear Smarty: I have been concerned about "Muslims among us" ever since l'affair Rushdie in 1989. The A'hole-a Insanee in Iran called for his death and thousands of European Muslims marched in the streets and burned copies of Satanic Verse. Theses crowds were wolfishly crying out for Rushdie's blood. Many publically stepped forward to volunteer to do the dirty deed. Others called for the imposition of sharia. Now these weren't ignorant, flea infested, butt-scratching camel jocks, but most were educated, professional and business types. I knew right then that assimilation of Muslims is not possible and that if they ever become even a significant minority in a country, that country is headed for real trouble, esp. in politically correct socialist countries.
To: SMARTY; Kristopher
Oh. Break the rule? That might be a good idear since from what Kristopher was saying the other day they can't really call in the army because it's about 25% Muslim, largely from the areas that are out of control, and they can't be trusted not to join in with the insurgents.

With the exception of a very few intellectuals in the Muslim world, the vast majority of its adherents want the imposition of sharia, which makes speaking the truth about Islam and its founder a capital offense.
To: yankeedame
We can't even suggest that the Judeo-Christian culture of America is in any way superior to the culture of violence that permeates the Muslim countries of the Middle East and the Pacific Rim. I'll suggest it. The Judeo-Christian culture of American IS superior.

Buffetfan writes:
Neal is more in tune than any politician. He tells it like it is. Islam is a dangerous murdering cult that will eventually have to be declared incompatible with western society. Agreed.
But what about the millions of French Muslims who were _born_ in France, and are _citizens_ of France? If Islam finally is [correctly] recognized as incompatible with western society, so, too, will not _Islamics_ be incompatible?
What will be the solution?
I daresay, could France, and Europe someday face another "final solution"?
Hard times ahead for Europe and France in particular....

Hard times for Europe, indeed.
That said, let's fight out the next round of the Crusades on France's turf, shall we?
We need to take much tougher stands on Arab immigration and offer France our assistance...over in their homeland.

"i challenge anyone on this site to name me the last important battle won by french troops with a french officer leading them. just one please."
Heard the words "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" recently? That wasn't Gandalf--that was Petain at Verdun.
Granted, he was telling his soldiers to defend instead of attack. And granted, he went on to become a quisling of high order. He still won that battle.
Of course, that WAS WWI. Which makes your point anyway, I think.

It's not the liberals here we need to convince, its Bush and Rice, who believe islam is peaceful and love filled and all warm and snuggly....it's only a few bad ones...

Excellent!
It brings to mind the old question:
"Why are there so many trees along the Champs-Elysee?
Because the Germans hate marching in the Sun.

My son-in-law fought al Quaida alongside the French Foreign Legion in Djibouti last year. He said those guys were tough as nails, "but of course, none of them were native French" he countered with a smile...
