Why an Intifada in France? (fascinating insight by a Frenchman in North Africa)

WHY AN INTIFADA IN FRANCE? [John Derbyshire] An acquaintance of mine -- French, currently resident in North Africa -- sent a long post about the French riots to an email group I belong to. It is a fascinating post, but much too long to paste here. I did think, though, that the following passage would interest NRO readers, so with his permission, I pass it on.

It is from a passage headed: "Why an Intifada in France?" It is among a long list of reasons given as answers to the question.

"The Iraq war: as I had noticed very strongly in Tunisia a little more than 2 years ago, the opposition of France to intervention in Iraq has been perceived as a sign of weakness, and French are since considered as Dhimmis. The change of attitude from Arabs against French has been dramatic: now I know problems of security in Tunisia, and even in the French planes to go and come from there, and in Nice (French Riviera) Airport! This opposition, probably motivated by the money earned in Oil For Terror program and by threats from Saudi Arabia and Iran, has marked the end of France as a Western country (whatever one thinks about the Iraq war per se!)." The French lost their souls in 1941 when they allowed the deportation of their Jews. This is nothing new. The Cold War saved them for a generation and a half. We protected them, now they are on their own and will resume their downward spiral.

I don't think you people know much about Europe or spend much time there. Even though the French and the Germans did not back the war in Iraq, if there were ever a group of people capable of solving their issues with Muslims it is them.

I've lived in Germany for a couple of years in the past and I do not hold the same optimism you do regarding the ability of the French and Germans to solve their issues with muslims.

The reason is that the French and Germans don't see the religious component as of much importance...in their minds it is all a matter of economic dissatisfaction and an expression of feeling politically impoverished. Those are existent conditions...but they are not the ultimate primary focus for those involved. The French elites are exceedingly secular...to them, religion is of no importance at all...and although they mildly consider that there are nuts who take religion more seriously than them they really can't conceive of religion being a core element to someone's life. So the French elites ignore any of the religious elements involved and only really pay attention to the elements that get them fired up...ie, wealth and greed (at their level) moderate economics at the level they look down upon.

There is a whole list of contributing issues...poverty, French racism, French cultural arrogance, Islamic cultural and religious arrogance, a serious lack of social integration, language and cultural barriers...but chiefly, there is a complete lack of connection at a religious level. In the eyes of Islam, France is of the "house of war". The West is seriously confused about the nature of Islam because they want to believe that the cultural muslims...the moderates, are the true face of Islam. But the truth that they don't dare even consider is that the reason so few "moderates" jump out and condemn the jihad cry is because is that violent, radical side that actually reflects true Islam. In the West, most don't want to face the reality that Islam for almost all muslims is based upon the Koran, the Sunnah and the Hadith...and an honest reading of those leads to the view that jihad (war...not just some inner struggle) is what was performed by Muhammad and that they are to follow in his example.

In the War on Terror, it is only natural that France would fall first...and because of their natural inclination to appease the enemy in vain hope of currying favor.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: whoever conquers France next has to keep it.

I hope you're right; the French are pretty disgusted with Chirac from what I've heard.

"Didn't he though. . .cannot understand what part of the 'weakest link' do these Libs not understand."

I suspect it has to do with an over inflated estimation of their own self-worth and a blind eye to reality. That, coupled with their penchant to follow their "feelings" since they are incapable of clear intellectual honesty ("better living through chemicals", you know.).

I am afraid the French are outnumbered, in terms of fighting men.

France is dying and nothing will stop it. It is being devoured from within by a parasite that will overwhelm the host over the next 30 years.
The parasite is just an opportunistic infection. The real illness is the cultural immune deficiency syndrome known as socialism.

When it comes time to chisel the tombstone on France, the first words should be: Died of Socialism.

This is no Intifada, however, one may come about if the French government fails to efficiently and ruthlessly shut down the gangs that are at the heart of the violence.

I haven't seen muslems rioting in London yet. The US and UK had terrorist attacks, France has an uprising. Who looks weaker?

I've been to europe a few times, and wasn't sitting around on tour buses, I was on business and spent time hanging with locals and getting to know the cities.

They mave a long history of putting minority populations in their place, that there is a major emphasis on "history" in in past tense.

Muslims are now over 10% of frances total population. I would say the number is even higher because many aren't accounted for. Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, all have enormous muslim populations.

I would believe that Germany wouldn't put up with the rioting thats going on in France, but they have big problems as well. The muslim brotherhood runs large mosques all over the country with the german government's blessing.

The head scarve ban in France means nothing, when its the muslims who are doing all the breeding and continue to immigrate legally, but mostly illegally. Big whoopdie-@#$%ing do.
They have been complacent on attacks on synagogues and jewish french citizens. They have appeased the palestinian intifada and Chirac licked Arafats butt any chance he got. They have cultivated this environment and now acting suprised that the muslims are acting up.

Germany's leadership for many years now have been by weak socialists and greenies. Their economy is a disaster. Once the economic and industrial powerhouse of Europe, they now average double digit unemployment and 0% GDP. High taxes to fund the socialist welfare state which kills any business development. They have a baby boomer problem 100 times worse than the US. Their children are raised to be lazy socialists who refuse to enter the work force and want to stay in college screwing around while collecting welfare till later 20's/early 30's. They aren't marrying. They aren't having children. Most of the ones having children are the immigrant muslims. German women are being raised to believe being mothers isn't "hip" and will hurt their careers.

Give it another 20 years, and 25% of Frances population will be muslim. Netherlands is already there.

They have been sowing the seeds for this to happen for decades.

Weakness invites attack.

Yes, they say that the downing of the Black Hawk in Somalia, and the subsequent retreat ordered by Bubba, inspired Bin Laden to attack America (again), believing wrongly that America was a paper tiger.

Immigration is a colossal problem in Europe, here in Ireland, up to recently, was largely unscathed, but now immigration is on the rise.
