Many comments on an amusing thread.
(1) Napoleon was French. Corsica is part of France.
(2) This is not Islam reaching out to take control of Paris. Nothing like it. This is frustrated French-born Arabs who are angry about exclusion.
(3) Nobody has gotten killed. 7 nights of street demonstrationsand property damage, but neither the police nor the Beurs have killed anybody. This is a strong protest in the French tradition, and not a murderous event in the Islamist tradition.
(4) The issue is how does France deal with French who are excluded and angry. These young men are not immigrants. They're French. It's akin to the American struggles of what to do about the black riots in the 1960s, except that in America the riots were much more violent and deadly.

In order for Chirac to demonstrate his leadership, he must ban Piggy Banks like the Brits have done. Chirac has already banned wearing head scarves in schools. Banning Piggy Banks is a VERY "liberal" gesture - an offering of "tolerance." Tomorrow the World...
and a ban on Canadian Bacon.
The crisis will happen much sooner than that, if we're not actually already seeing it.

France's government and its extensive bureaucracy have no firm ethical grasp on governance because its constitution is ever "revolving" and arbitrary.
BTW, France reports a 10% unemployment rate. The truth is, the unemployment rate is closer to 14%. At least 40% of France's businesses are OWNED and OPERATED by the government and its extensive nepotic bureaucracy.
France's socialist form of government is pseudo-egalitarian - quasi Marx and Louis XIV.

I am not talking about the Fifth French Republic. I am talking about France remaining French, not being overrun by Muslims.
Our dispute with France is that between a family. The dispute with the Muslims is existential.

*I agree with your observation. The KEY to not losing heart is reaffirming familial orientation and family moral cohesiveness. The NEA should NEVER to allowed to dictate public school policy and curricula. NEA's members are not elected, are not representative, and they are nefariously attached to a "global" agenda. The NEA is not a practicing teachers' union. The NEA is a quasi socio-political association universally OPEN to members who "qualify" according to the NEA's STANDARD as educators, e.g., NAMBA, etc. The NEA is more akin to the U.N. than it is to America's PTA.
America's parents should have be able to claim tax deductions as well as funding for all education related expenses for their children: tutors, remedial, charter schools, extra-curriclar, etc. The evil irony is that the NEA and the Teachers' Unions want to dictate to and control all academic alternatives to failed and flawed public schools. NEA's agenda for homosexual social-orientation and explicit (and subliminal) sexualogy at primary and secondary school levels represent a highly irresponsible and unwholesome ideology. Our public schools have disevolved to leftist/liberal socio-political indoctrination labs. I'm not attesting to an uninformed or to a partisan theory. My opinion is based not only on current studies, stats and reports, but on direct observation. Results speak to the truth of the matter.
