French government in crisis mode, tries to cope with suburban Paris riots

CLICHY-SOUS-BOIS, France (CP) - France's government went into crisis mode Wednesday to deal with spreading rioting in the suburbs of Paris, with the prime minister postponing a trip to Canada and the president calling for calm.

In tough northeastern suburbs around Clichy-sous-Bois, where the accidental deaths of two teenagers last week first prompted angry youths to rampage, the hulks of burned-out cars littered streets and young men prepared for a seventh consecutive night of fighting with riot police.

Leaders at Clichy-sous-Bois' mosque prayed for peace and asked parents to keep teenagers off the streets.

The violence, which spread to at least nine Paris-region towns overnight Tuesday, laid bare the despair, anger and deep-rooted criminality in France's poor, unemployment-hit suburbs - some of them ghettos where police hesitate to venture despite proof they are fertile terrain for Islamic extremists, drug dealers and racketeers.

To deal with the unrest, Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin postponed a visit to Canada and Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy cancelled a Nov. 6-9 trip to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

I'm sure all concerned will understand. A few years ago Cincinnati had a situation involving local minorities rioting (Cincinnati in an average year has approx. 100 murders ... 90% minority related) and the city was roundly condemned, not only here in the U.S., but in many nations around the world ... as being insensitive to minority interests. Curious to see if Paris comes close to ranking with Cincinnati on the liberal rejection meter.

This stunt should have been pulled 25 or 50 years from now when they can win demographically in France and Europe.

Mobs don't behave strategically, they behave intuitively. Islam is a mob...it behaves according to the spirit of Mohammed and Allah.

"There is a vacuum in leadership in France...let's fill it." Laws of nature. Laws of physics.

Europe created the vacuum...now they must deal with what fills it.

"They hate the West. Why are they here?"

Because they've already reduced their own countries to rubble, and their former governments won't give them handouts anymore.

Napoleon had a remarkably blunt way of dealing with rioting mobs. It was called cannister shot. The "religion of peace" folks there deserve nothing less. Oh, but I forgot - Napoleon wasn't French! (He was a Corsican). So instead of a Napoleon, the French have Jacques Chriac, Dhimmi-President de France. Frere Jacques will probably crawl up to the Grand Mufti of Paris and ask what to him do.

Europe created the vacuum...now they must deal with what fills it.
You are rather optimistic.
I think tha the EU and Eurabian projects will still continue.
The violence is already an excuse for calls for greater integration and understanding.
The results will be higher welfare (subsidies for more kids), futher official support for Islam, and a political assualt on the police.
Unless the nationalist right wins in the upcomming elections, France and Europe are doomed.

May 1968 Student uprisings. Nothing changed. The French are sheep with no stomach for a fight.

They hate the West. Why are they here?

In all due respect man, but kick off that rock you've been hiding under. They are like locusts...they're here to eat from the fat of the land...from the fat you have created.

And their goal is to subjugate, convert, or kill you and your family.

Why are they here? Why do you think they are here? They have stripped their land...now they want yours.

"Does the French government really want to unilaterally invade it's Parisian suburbs? What would Kofi say?"

Is Kerry on his way there to apologize to the French government as he promised?

Ah, so rampaging mobs of Unitarian Nazarene Shinto Mormon Muslim yoots decided to celebrate a seventh consecutive Kristallnacht in suburban Paris this evening, all in order to promote "their individual and collective dignity", of course. What a surprise.

A civilized country cannot tolerate this sort of chaos and remain civilized. A government that cannot keep the peace in the streets is a government that has failed. Seven nights of rioting is six nights too many -- this "protest" has become a civil insurrection and is a threat to the nation. The government of France should declare a 24-hour curfew in the affected area, send in armed helicopters and infantry fighting vehicles, and shoot anybody they see on the streets, followed by house-to-house bulldozings and roundups of survivors (if any) for deportation.

The violence is already an excuse for calls for greater integration and understanding.

Are you writing from Europe? If so, you have my prayers. But Islam will not be appeased...it will not quit until it dominates the world.

The western world would be quite happy to make a place for Islam at the table...but Islam wants the whole table and wants to convert, subjugate or kill anyone that sits at OUR table.

How can we ignore this threat? It is as though Satan is reaching up from hell. Islam must die.

Sorry!

I'm a New Yorker. However, Europe is the heart of the West. We should all be concerned about it.

from: http://www.blogsofwar.com/riots_continue_in_france

France is facing the problem that dare not speak its name. Though French law prohibits the census from any reference to ethnic background or religion, many demographers estimate that as much as 20-30 per cent of the population under 25 is now Muslim.

The streets, the traditional haunt of younger people, now belong to Muslim youths. In France, the phrase "les jeunes" is a politically correct way of referring to young Muslims. Given current birth rates, it is not impossible that in 25 years France will have a Muslim majority. The consequences are dynamic: is it possible that secular France might become an Islamic state?

I lived in the city for 15 years of my adult life...and I am still p!ssed about 9/11 and always will be. Islam is based on a foundation of violence and destruction. Christianity is, frankly, a pacifist-based faith...and Judaism isn't much different.

This battle will be won because the Judeo/Christian world is in the right.

I don't know the details...I am just a mere mortal.

But as a mortal, I am faithful.

Right will win...it has already won. I would rather be die for the cause of goodness than live for myself (and kill innocents to achieve paradise).

I don't think we can permit France to become an Islamic state. We must draw the line somewhere.

I suggest we are confronting a demonic cult. In the end, we may have to deprogram the followers of Islam...but what do I know?

An Islamic state with SLBM's.
