It takes really deep reading of this piece (of caca) to determine the religion of the rioters, almost as if Reuters has a style book that says "Muslim" is a forbidden word.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin urged a return to calm on Tuesday evening after meeting families of the two youths along with Sarkozy, his main political rival now under heavy fire for his tough line against the rioters. Interior Minister Sarkozy calls the rioting Islamics what they are - "scum" - and gets attacked for it. Welcome to the end, France.

".....clashes broke out last week after two teenagers of African origin were electrocuted while apparently fleeing the police"
"African origin" They are from North Africa and are Islamic as are many, many of these suburbs around Paris. I am surprised that the police were even there as what I have read they will not go into some of the Islamic sections because they are afraid.

From the article:
The unrest in the eastern suburbs, heavily populated by North African and black African minorities, was sparked by youths frustration at their failure to get jobs and recognition in French society.
Still no mention of the rioters' religious affilliation.
And I thought the rioting was about the two 'youths' electricuted themselves when supposedly running from the police? Now it's about jobs and recognition?
Incomplete reporting and story evolution.

Squabbling broke out within Villepins government when Equal Opportunities Minister Azouz Begag openly criticized Sarkozy for calling the protesting youths scum. They have a position called Equal Opportunities Minister? No wonder they are doomed to lose this fight.

Hey! It's still "youths" - and there still aren't any pictures of the Muslim lunatics torching Paris.
Odd, ain't it, when the news is so very liberal, so very PC?

"as youth unrest" Couldn't be the ROP could it?

France will be an Islamic state in 30 years.
Frenchmen and women will routinely be beheaded in public squares for their refusal to play by the Islamic sick cult's rules.

Chirac will do something to temporarily appease the muslims, and by doing that and not taking a very tough anti-crime stance he will only embolden them to committ more violence. A sort of wine sipping cheese eating Neville Chamberlain.
