Harry Reid just made a motion, that was seconded, to send the Senate into closeed session.Schumer, Rockefeller and Durbin are before the press asking for a Senate Intelligence investigation into the Plame affair
More generically, for lying to investigators and the GJ. The indictment puts those lies into several contexts, one of which is Russert.
But the alleged general lie is that Libby asserted to investigators that he had no indpenedent knowledge of Plame, when the evidence is that he did have independent knowledge, e.g., via having inquired of the CIA.
Nosir sahib, sir.....this is 'martha-fargin' war and those evil 'bastiges' have to be taught a lesson!!!
they can't... the judiciary cmte has to chair it
On the contrary. He said having called for a closed session the GOP has finally agreed to get to a matter that has been on the back burner for over a year. I'll hold judgement until we hear from Frist.
Pat must have started taking that Saudi money too if he's towing that line.
Okay, an investigation I want....thanks for bringing me to Earth.
Yes ... your post is a more detailed answer
Thanks
BULLSEYE!!, I just hope the repubs lack fight in the past doesn't repeat itself
The nitwit dems are all about theatrics and shrill... They are ineffective and poltically impotent YET the liberal masses are quite happy and often empowered by the gala of one of thier 'leaders' in the 'fray' -a tale acted out by idiots for idiots -signifying nothing...
I think the real reason for this stinkbomb is they know we're fixin' to open a can of Able Danger on their sorry a$$es.
indictments don't mean crap
This is great, CSPAN keeps replaying Dirty Harry's ranting.
Or better yet, if Libby had told investigators "I called the CIA, then I told the reporters about Plame." Still no crime ;-)
The only thing the Republicans have grown so far is a bone fragment!
Thought I saw somewhere in this thread that a majority could open up the session again. Why don't they just do that if it is permitted and get on with the bill passage?
"IMO .. the Dems are trying to take down all Top Republican Leadership
This is their "Big Play""
Hmmm. Isn't that how the Nazi party consolidated their power when they maxed out at the polls?
Here's what they're demanding (in bold) They want a commiment to the second phase of the Senate Intelligence Committee..
Senate Intelligence Committee Unanimously Approves Pre-War Intelligence ReportWASHINGTON, DC Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, the Committee's Vice Chairman, issued the following joint statement:
"Today, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence voted unanimously to approve its report on pre-war intelligence regarding Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs, ties to terrorists, threat to regional stability and violations of human rights. Today's vote is the culmination of over one year of intense scrutiny by the Committee of the Intelligence Community's pre-war assessments. The Committee is currently engaged with the Central Intelligence Agency over the issue of classification. The Committee is extremely disappointed by the CIA's excessive redactions to the report. Our goal is to release publicly as much of the report's findings and conclusions as soon as possible. We will work toward that goal, as we continue our work on phase two of the Committee's review."
Republicans better come out with the same or higher intensity than the Dims or I'm going to be an angry conservative. I don't want to hear about Republicans working with Dims right now. I want conservative leadership now! Frist did a good job calling this a stunt, but that's not enough.
