I believe he, of all people, will stick to legal principles.

Especially with the number of Catholics in Louisiana, she's walking a thin line.

Unless she's banking on the New Orleans voodoo vote.

You gotta give the Democratic side of the "gang of 14" enough time to get the "correct" side of the talking points.

Chrissy Mathews slammed the "first" version.

Landrieu did not provide specifics about her concerns about Alito

Intentional. And she won't. It was an old trick long before Ayn Rand explained it in "Atlas Shrugged". Treat your audience like they're listening to a horror show on the radio: sow vague seeds of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt without giving any specifics so that each one can personally come up with their own horrors. Additionally, the issue cannot be debated or refuted -- we know how leftists hate debates and actual facts.

What will Mary do?

Maybe she'll threaten to punch out Judge Alito.

Hey Mary,

Doesn't your state need Hurricane aid? Perhaps this is a good time to be on the Presdient's "good side."

"As I have said before, Justice (Sandra Day) O'Connor should be succeeded by a justice who, like her, will inspire our nation and embody the fundamental American values of freedom, equality and fairness -- someone who will put the principles of law ahead of partisan ideology," Landrieu said...

I'll have to check, but I am certain Landrieu made the same statement when Clinton nominated Ginsberg. /s

How does Senator Landrieu have any time to respond to the Judge Alito nomination? I thought she was too busy shredding documents before her testimony at the hurricane Katrina investigation committee.

Poor Mary "Baby Fat" Landrieu. Its tough being a Democrat in a Red State. If she even has the slightest hope of being reelected, she'll vote to confirm Alito.

Who is Landreau representing in the Senate? Surely not Roman Catholics who agree with a genuine Roman Catholic, Judge Alito, in the matter of abortion. Is she taking communion? Who is her bishop?

A significant portion of her voting base has left the state and won't be returning so she's already vulnerable. She will be pissing off a lot of her remaining constituents if she goes along with the crackpot left and fights this qualified nominee. I suspect she'll realize those facts by the time the vote rolls around.

Samuel Alito's career "raises questions" about whether he would put legal principles ahead of partisan ideology as a Supreme Court justice, Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., said Monday.

You would think of everyone in the Senate, this gal would be keeping a low profile right now... and for the rest of her short, unimpressive career.

Mary is putting an election target on her back with these partisan stupid statements. And now that 10,000 of her paid voters are displaced she'll be easier to beat.

Seriously: Is anybody, either republican or democrat, liberal or conservative "Inspired" by anything Sandra Day O'Conner says or does?

Conservatives don't like half her rulings, Democrats hate her for the other half including her 2000 ruling on Bush V Gore.

And in a few cases both sides hate her.

But what rulings has she had which "inspired" us?

The left keeps saying this to convince people it is true, we have to fight on the premise, because it is false. O'Conner is not a "moderating" influence, she is a judicial activist that changes the constitution to suit what she thinks would be "right" for the country, meaning nobody ever knows what the law will really be, and she pisses off half of us with every ruling.

A true conservative wouldn't be that way, because in time everybody would know how the court would rule on the issue (just read the constitution) so the rulings wouldn't be surprising, or look capricious.

Frankly, I don't care if any SC justices are "inspiring", or make anybody happy. I just want them to do their job.

Is Mary going to jump on the "anti-State's Rights" DNC bandwagon?

With billions in Katrina aid funds she wants "her State" to be able to control?

Hmmm.

Landrieu is a con artist who decieved people, by saying she was going to support Estrada, while she was campaigning. After she was elected, she joined the other Democrats in filibustering Estrada.

Hey Mary:

This is the way it works.

The President gets to nominate those who support his views and the views he promised to the American people during his campaign.

He is doing that now.

He is not there to put into place someone that YOU and your ILK like.

Do you understand it now? I would have thought in your ROLE as Senator that you would have known the rules, regs and procedures. But, you didn't even know enough to help your Governor and Mayor when they were bungling the evacuation plans in New Orleans so how in God's name could you know the proper procedure for nominating a Supreme Court Justice? That would be way beyond your realm of intelligence.

So, sit back, relax and learn how to pronouce the name of the President's nominee because it's here to stay!
