Jamie Foxx Wants B-Day Present From Governator
Fox News ^ | 10/31/2005 | Roger Friedman

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx turns 38 on Dec. 13, and there is only one birthday present he wants from California Gov. (and fellow actor) Arnold Schwarzenegger: clemency for Stan "Tookie" Williams.

Williams is an acclaimed author who has been mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. He's also a convicted murderer who is set to be executed on Foxx's birthday after 24 years on death row.

"We can't let it happen," Foxx told me last night at the premiere of his new film, "Jarhead." "We've got to do everything we can to get the word out. Do you know they've collected nearly 30,000 signatures so far?"

Williams was sentenced to death in 1981 for the 1979 murder of a Los Angeles area 7-Eleven manager, and, shortly thereafter, three other people at a motel. He was already infamous at the time for founding the Los Angeles street gang the Crips, who were responsible for hundreds of deaths.

24 years of clemency seems like enough of a present.

There are few things as repulsive as criminal sociopaths fancying themselves as agents for social change.

Considering his performance in 'Stealth', that boy is lucky we don't sit him next to Tookie during the gassing.

Americanwolf, I nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize. Now you can say and others can write you were mentioned for the prize.

Tookie's mention means about as much.

Jamie Foxx? Is he a Senator or something? Nah, just some good for nothing actor who expects the rest of us to listen to what he has to say about... well, anything he thinks we should listen to. I for one don't really care what he thinks about this guy. Someone can do good things for humanity, yet be a complete menace to society. Hitler did some great things for Germany but he was still a maniac (to say the least.) How about this Hollywood? Go back to your big homes and your gas guzzling SUV's and stop telling the rest of us what we should do. I think it's time to excecute this guy!! I mean he's been on death row for 24 years!! He's a waste of money and quite frankly a waste of space on this planet. Move him out so we can move someone else in. CA should put in a express lane for the chamber. This is getting ridiculous. Yeah, I'm just an evil conservative who cares nothing about life, wildlife and the poor.

WOO HOOO mom will be pround... :)

I get the point though.... but the fact that they even went to consider him for what he did is amazing.. I think the noble organization has lost the way of its founder Alfred noble a long time ago.

From the top....

The death penalty, like other criminal penalties, is based on what you DID, no on who you've BECOME.

As a mechanism to control the population, and facilitate rehabilitation, parole and "time off for good behavior" might be used to shorten a sentence. However, by definition, a death penalty isn't intended on being shortened.

Therefore, Tookie must pay the price for what he did, not on who he's become.

This, from a conservative who thinks that the death penalty is a horrible idea....

Somebody help me out here in my heart I want to see this guy fry but:

"Thanks to the Almighty, I am no longer sleepwalking through life.

I pray that one day my apology will be accepted. I also pray that your suffering, caused by gang violence, will soon come to an end as more gang members wake up and stop hurting themselves and others. "

I don't know anything about him he might not be talking about the true God but if he is we need to have a forgiving heart towards him as he has confessed, shown remorse, turned away, and worked towards good... thats a sign of repentance, now I have not seen if he has fruit but if he has lets celebrate the holiness of God and not take joy in this mans earthly punishment.. As a Christian I am torn on the death penalty..

Nobel must be spinning in his grave over some of the peace awards. Sorta like the Ford Foundation, the organization is miles away from what the founder intended.
