Corzine's Next Scandal?
various political circles in New Jersey

Speculation is swirling around a Corzine scandal and political types on both sides who read yesterday's post responded with some variation of "Oh yeah, that..." (As we noted in our comments, other bloggers, with better connections to the Corzine campaign than Enlighten-NewJersey, have hinted at what it might be.) This story clearly has some traction.
But there's more. Today in an email:
That's not the end of it. Reporters are after a videotape of Corzine, inebriated, making statements that will damage him beyond belief with African Americans. (Carla Katz supposedly makes an appearance.) People who have seen this thing say it's bad. African American leaders are aware of its existence, and don't think the damage can be undone no matter how many $2 million "contributions" he throws their way. The only question is whether we find out about this before he's governor, or after.

Yesterday a report about the New Jersey NAACP saying something like "Just because John Corzine give money to Black ministers doesn't mean we have to automatically support him." It sounded odd. I had to ask myself, "Why would the New Jersey NAACP go out of its way to express reservations about full bore support for a Democrat?" Now maybe we have the answer. Maybe they've seen the video tape. Maybe they believe it. Maybe we will be able to see it BEFORE the election, but I doubt it. The old media will never expose this BEFORE Election Day, if at all.

Probably so it can be buried until after the election.

Don't be so sure, the Old Media exposed Jim McGreevy and made him resign. The media in New Jersey are actually fed up with all the corruption, more than they are knee-jerk liberals. If this tape exists, it will come out. Maybe the GOP has it and is waiting for a November Surprise, too late for Corzine to recover.

Will it get out in time. Perhaps. . . in time for the democrats to substitute another candidate.

One thing I do love about New Jersey is that it's a hotbed of interesting stories.
And to think that up until a couple of weeks ago I was calling this one of the dullest political campaigns in U.S. history.

. . . the Old Media exposed Jim McGreevy and made him resign. No, they didn't. The Old Media embarked on a campaign of congratulation for "exposing" a story about Jim McGreevey that they knew about for years but deliberately buried until Golan Cipel threatened to sue him.

The big question is whether the New Jersey supreme court will cancel the election, push it back, or otherwise let the Democrats bring in a "pinch hitter" if Corzine looks like toast -- in the interests of giving the people a "real choice", of course...

Hopefully, Douggy Forrester's been holding this until the day before the election. Last time a scandal came out too soon, we ended up with Frank Lousenburg in the senate.
Don't give the Dems a chance to cheat this time!

Ac has it 100 percent right. The media knew for years but said it was relevant for the public to know. The AP fired its three State House staffers but then quietly hired two back. The other went to work flacking for the Dem administration.

Exactly. And then after he resigned, they went on a state-wide rampage finding every vox populi dimwit and numbskull they could to appear on camera and say, "I don't think he should have resigned. There's nothing wrong with being gay. I think he was doing a good job. Blah, blah, blah." It was beyond sickening.

a tape like this is the only way forrester will win the governorship. its corzines to lose.

The media in New Jersey are actually fed up with all the corruptionThe media in NJ is PART of the corruption!
Torricelli was as corrupt as could be. The press knew it and worked with him if it meant undermining Reagan in the 80's.
It was only when Torricelli looked like he might lose that NBC picked up the convenience store security tape. Seeing Torricelli and a "waste disposal" manager stalk David Chang spelled the end for Torricelli who as we know was replaced by the Senator from the pre-historic age.
Corzine will spend as many millions as it will take to make sure this tape never sees the light of day.

Corzine is almost they stereotypical limousine liberal. His motto is 'fine for thee, but not for me'. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he, off the record, refers to black people as 'n-g-e-s' or some other such nonsense.

According to them, and off the record, they say he has really really changed since he became a senator. Robert Rubin and him, aren't even on speaking terms anymore, and his personality has become very abusive, mean, and weird, not to mention hostile.
They call it night and day.
But I would have to see proof to believe he made a racial slur.

Bergen Record got after Toricelli and we know what the NJ supremes, er sopranos, did about that. They allowed Toricelli to drop out and be replaced with a seemingly dead man.
This may also account for all the sudden interest in Codey.
The media saying that he could have been elected, he is just loved by everyone in NJ, even the republicans.
Sure is loved by all those dem districts that got homeland security money while giving NONE to republican districts.

Lets go to the videotape.
Corzine is as sleazy as the Torch, McGreesy and the press in NJ. Somebody should come up with the tape and put it on the Internet on a loop that plays continuously until midnight on election night. Just get it on TV once and he should be toast.
