The Constitutional option. We are ready.
Justice Brown Has Significant Judicial Experience. "Since May 2, 1996, Janice Brown has been an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. From November 4, 1994, she was an Associate Justice of the Third District Court of Appeal in Sacramento." (California Courts Website, www.courtinfo.ca.gov, Accessed 4/19/05)
Prior To Her Service On The Bench, Brown Was A Legal Advisor To Governor Pete Wilson. "From January 7, 1991, to November 1994, Ms. Brown served as Legal Affairs Secretary to Governor Pete Wilson. The job included diverse duties, ranging from analysis of administration policy, court decisions, and pending legislation to advice on clemency and extradition questions. The Legal Affairs Office monitored all significant state litigation and had general responsibility for supervising departmental counsel and acting as legal liaison between the Governor's office and executive departments." (California Courts Website, www.courtinfo.ca.gov, Accessed 4/19/05)
Before Her Work In The Governor's Office, Brown Accumulated Extensive Work Experience, Both In The Public And In The Private Sector. "Prior to joining Governor Wilson's senior staff, Brown was an associate at Nielsen, Merksamer, Parrinello, Mueller & Naylor, a government and political law firm. Before joining the firm in January 1990, Brown served for two and a half years as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel for the state's Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, working primarily with business regulatory departments. Brown came to BT&H after eight years (1979-1987) in the Attorney General's Office, where she worked in both the criminal and civil divisions." (California Courts Website, www.courtinfo.ca.gov, Accessed 4/19/05)
"From 1977 To 1979, Brown Worked For The Legislative Counsel." (California Courts Website, www.courtinfo.ca.gov, Accessed 4/19/05)
Janice Rogers Brown Is "A California Supreme Court Justice, The Daughter Of A Sharecropper, An African-American And A Conservative." (Kathy Kiely, "Senate On Brink Of 'Nuclear' Filibuster War," USA Today, 4/15/05)
"As A Pioneer In Her Field, Brown Holds An Optimistic, Though Balanced, View Of Our Nation." "As a pioneer in her field, Brown holds an optimistic, though balanced, view of our nation. 'Our country has unique problems,' she says. 'We don't do things perfectly, sometimes we don't even do them well. But we are at least trying to accommodate political equality. Our peculiar history of slavery forces us to deal with issues of inequality. However poorly we may have done it, we have been able to maintain a stable democracy, and that is the great legacy of America.'" (Gwen Daye Richardson, Op-Ed, "California Supreme Court Justice Janice Rogers Brown," Headway/ Ethnic News Watch, 8/31/98)
Janice Rogers Brown Was One Of Four California Supreme Court Justices On Ballot In November 1998. She received ringing endorsements:
Justice: | For: | Against: |
Janice Rogers Brown | 75.91% | 24.09% |
Ronald M. George | 75.49% | 24.51% |

California Papers Believe Bush's Nomination Of Rogers Brown Should Be Considered:
San Francisco Chronicle Said Rogers Brown Was "Thoughtful" And Deserved A "Careful But Evenhanded" Nomination Review. "In her time on the California Supreme Court, [Justice Janice Rogers] Brown, 54, has proved to be thoughtful and a prolific writer of opinions. She supports limits on abortion rights, corporate liability and the death penalty and opposes gun control and affirmative action. Senators should give her nomination a careful but evenhanded review." (Editorial, "Mirrored On The Bench," The San Francisco Chronicle, 8/1/03)
The Orange County Register Compared Rogers Brown's Views On Limited Government "Refreshing," And Compared Her Views To The Founding Fathers':
The entire administration is under seige. The time is right to choose Brown and get the active conservatives standing solidly behind him. We will take the fight to the RATS --- but he has to do it, not wimp out!
MEGA-DITTOES
Brown , you want Brown, they just ate a woman appart who has done nothing wrong ! What do you think they would do to Brown? What is this the two for one sale, you want an all out war? Maybe, I am not as smart as you snobs , but what I want is just a good Supreme court. Brown and the far ,far would be nominations from hell . If you want a civial war in this country you go fight it ,not me. All I want is a good court . There is the reason I supported Bush.
Very entertaining post. I am pleased to respond.
1. Brown has done nothing wrong
2. The people who "ate a woman appart" (whatever that means) were conservatives; our side would obviously not do that to Brown
3. Two for one sale is just a silly analogy
4. Yes, the time is right for all out war....we are ready
5. Snobs? That is not nice.
6. She would make it a good Supreme court where we have a solid, not a wavering, 5-4 advantage
7. "Brown and the far ,far" (whatever that means) is not a nomination from hell; she has already been confirmed once. If they say she is not qualified, why in the world would they vote for her for the DC circuit? Did they vote for someone unqualified?
8. Wake up! We are already in a civil war. This one is a culture war and is just as important as the other one. Where have you been?
9. I also want a good court. Ideally, Ginzberg and Souter would not be on one.
10. I supported Bush for two main reasons -- his unwavering leadership in the War on Terror, and his promise to give us a solid conservative court with justices like Scalia and Thomas.
Other than my corrections, that was a cogent and brilliant argument. By the way, welcome to FR.
I was referring back to the previous sentence and meant to refer back to the president. Point taken. It would have been better stated ---
President Bush and the entire administration are under seige. The time is right to choose Brown and get the active conservatives standing solidly behind him.
Inutile some uber-con decides he doesn't like the President because he was fired.
What makes anyone think that Brown wants any part of the process?
Ummmmm, she accepted a DC appointment and just went through confirmation?
I think the winning ticket would be Allen/Rice. She has said she does not want to run for Prez. But, if she were nominated as VP at the convention, it would be a much shorter campaign for her, she could concentrate on Secretary of State for almost her entire tenure, and she wouldn't have to be out raising money for two years.

BUT I did hear Rush say awhile back that he ran into Brown recently and she said her confirmation was so rough she would not want to go through it again.
I have wondered that all along. Miers would have had to volunteer to get beaten up. I can't see Dubya asking her to go through it. Oh, no! IT WAS ROVE, IT WAS ROVE! :)
Half way between Paleocons and Neocons. "paleo"=old, "neo"=new and "meso"=middle.
