Yep. Specter said nobody who has been filibustered will be supported.I never heard that quote. Is it in an article somewhere?
To: blinachka
Don't feel sorry for Ms. Miers. She did not well serve the President by allowing her name to be put forward.
She has demonstrated grace and dignity in withdrawing, and she still has her job.

Someone close to her called Barbra Streisand on that rumor.? I heard that actually from Limbaugh shortly after the nomination of Miers.
To: sharkhawk
Wasn't she the person vetting all the candidates?
You might be on to something. Maybe he didn't know about it.
To: bonfire
Wow. That has to be a first! Never knew. LOL!
To: yellowdoghunter
I did not work my ass off in 2000 and 2004 to have a moderate appointed to the USSC.

One thing useful about this episode - we now know who the conservatives are and who are the republican koolaid drinkers.

To win a Senate showdown, all the conservatives have to be on board.I totally agree and add that with the right nomination and leadership there will be more conservatives than they know. The liberals lose again.

(God bless President George Bush)
To: livius
Now Bush has been completely undermined for the rest of his term. Thanks guys. Better than the country undermined for the next 20 years.
To: Mr. K
THEY COMPLAINED MIERS DIDNT HAVE THE QUALIFICATIONS, NOW THEY CANT COMPLAIN THAT BROWN DOESN'T Democrats haven't actually complained about Miers' qualifications (or distinct lack thereof) at all - they've just sat back & let us tear each other apart. How in the WORLD could Bush not have realized what a divisive pick this would be?
To: sinkspur
So, Estrada's no good either? More in-fighting is EXACTLY what the GOP needs.
ANYONE who is NOT a true conservative can expect the same. Conservatives put Bush in office, and now, it's payback time. Hopefully, Bush will do the right thing and appoint one!!
To: maica
Actually, I think we have just seen a small correction of the broken confirmation process. The stealth candidate strategy will no longer work.
To: jporcus
what a shame she didn't at least get a up/down vote. I thought that is what we were all about here. Being fair. This will backfire on the Republicans.Let's just hope that the President will stay the course and nominate a true blue conservative!! I personally had faith in Harriet Miers.

(Miers did the right thing. Now the President can, by appointing Alex Kozinski, 9th Circuit COA.)

"Hope you guys are going to be happy with Gonzales."
If Bush picks Gonzalez, then we'll know how liberal he really is. There wasn't much support for Gonzalez for AG if you recall. Before you call us Bush bashers, keep in mind that we cheered Ashcroft generally, who was one of his GOOD appointees.

(It's the border, stupid!)
To: Buffettfan
After that border is closed and all the illegals sent packing, how do we pick the crops? We do not have the labor force to get all the Manuel labor done in this Country, so where do we find this labor force? Fact is we need Mexicans to do much of the cheap work. How you going to solve this problem and still control the border??

I don't know what list the Bush White House is using, but JRB seems to meet the standards of any rational conservative Republican, IMHO.

Reid up on CSPAN 2 whining that his nominee pick has withdrawn her name. Alright, that's piling on! But true.
To: steveegg
Edith Jones, Diane Sykes; in short, a conservative who has gone through in the last 5 years without being filibustered.Maybe but I don't think that will stop the Democrats and RINOs - and I'm beginning to hate the word conservative because everyone has their own definition. Anyway, I'm with you even if we go down with the ship.
