just breaking!!!!!!!!
the endless Miers thread...
There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between disagreeing with someone's ideas and hating somebody.
I never saw them, either ... even though I have been unjustly accused of making them.
I do believe that, if Miers had continued in her quest, and been confirmed, our side would have been far more gracious than the pro-Miers bunch have been toward us.
Ultimately, Miers was sunk by her own words, her own deeds and her own unsuitability for a lifetime appointment to the SCOTUS.
With a few notable exceptions, the pro-Miers bunch has been pretty abusive.
I missed your post earlier in the day as I had to leave; thanks for taking the time to put into words what some of us fear.
An excellent post.
President Bush knew her.
He trusted her.
I trust him.
We could have had a nominee whom the RATS would have let slide into the confirmation.
And, I'd be willing to bet she was the President's stealth pick.
She'd have been a vote for original intent on the Court.
Now we'll get a "known" conservative who the RATS will fight tooth and nail, and they'll win a few RINO's to their side that will sh*tcan any "conservative" nominee.
We should have trusted President Bush.
Thanks Rush, et al.
Thanks for nothing.
It's slowing down...it's only staying alive because people like YOU keep coming here and bumping it up!
;)
If a candidate can't take the heat, then they should get out of the kitchen.
We need strong and patriotic men and women willing to take the heat to keep Freedom's Torch alive.
Our soldiers live in Iraqi heat risking their very lives every day and rise and do their jobs. Thousands have been wounded and two thousand have died in this latest war.
Having the MSM shills, Soros,Air America, Ralph Neas, Barry Lynn, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Schumer, Boxer, Kennedy, Feinstein, Reid, Hillary et all attacking us is the war we have to fight here at home to protect our posterity, guaranteed freedoms and our property rights.
So far no candidate has has been beheaded....
"Let's roll."
BUMP
(snicker)
you need to stop that.
:)
love the post.
and the tagline.
ROTFLOL... GREAT POST!
LOL... the RINOs are now threatening to leave... this is too good to be true.
See post 3203...good post.
Do you hear voices in your head?
If true, the news I heard on the radio twenty minutes ago is troubling, indeed. It is reported that President Bush has put ... Harriet Miers ... in charge of choosing the candidate to be nominated in her stead for Justice of the SCOTUS.
Can this be true? Can this man be so completely politically tone deaf? Does he [or, do he and his wife] believe that such an important thing as that is appropriate as some sort of consolation prize for his poor choice in the first place?
I am too outraged to articulate clearly ...
well, look at it this way- if it's miers, it's doing the vetting, at least it's not the the poor deputy counsel who flubbed the vetting of miers herself.
Please see Post No. 3255.
LOL! Why is it, that every time a few Freepers try to correct a load of misconceptions, outright distortions and point out the obvious bias and stupidity we get accused of being abusive after being called every name designed to elicit anger and PO' the receiving party.
it has happened on every possible issue discussed on FR. All of them!
This is why I don't hang here much anymore. I don't need that sort of abuse. After I'm done with my rants and my attempts to digest what has occurred here today and for the last few weeks, I will be off talking to some folks who don't mind differing opinions and respect the rights of others to have them, hold them and speak freely about them.
Take a good look at what this place has become. I have, and I don't see anything good about it.
Of course you are correct. We were expected to ignore her public speeches and reports about her public career, as well as her underwhelming resume and support her blindly knowing little about her. This was not only an unfair request, but also a moral impossibility given the gravity and monumental signifcance of this appointment.
Realizing her unsuitability stemmed both from her scanty relevant experience and her lack of conservative ideology, as revealed over time, we could not back a candidate who would have been devastating to the court.
By most of us she was fairly and righteously opposed. To have done otherwise would have been reckless and irresponsible. I resent the mischaracterizations and the bitter hyperbole regarding our dissent.
We can be proud we stood up for principle and the Supreme Court knowing the nation's posterity will be far better for it. And I for one will sleep more soundly.
Your comments were thoughtful and right and most appreciated.
