"Threatening to stay home and not vote or work for good solid conservative candidates plays right into the hands of the RATs. If that is what some of you want to do, fine but count me out..."

Hey............my support for President Bush has not wavered a bit. I don't have to agree with every decision to support a President.........especially one as strong and honorable as this one.
And, for the record, I'm working on the Blackwell campaign here in Ohio because we desperately need a conservative in office here.
But I AM seriously concerned that the right did to Ms Miers the EXACT thing that they condemn when the left does it, and it is giving me pause.
The wounds in the Conservative movement are deep because of this. Vitriol has never been a part of Republican vocabulary before, but now it is. What's going to happen to the next nominee now that the precedent has been set to Bork one of our own?

Republicans control the House, the Senate, the WH. Libertarians have difficulty controlling themselves. Makes a big difference.

No, the way that Justice O'Connor stated her resignation, she is officially out the day that her replacement is confirmed. She is not "agreeing to stay to the end of the term." Instead, she stays until she is replaced, which is no change from when she handed her letter to the President back in June.

And I understand not supporting her.
It's the lynch mob that I'm having problems with.

Call the bluff. Put the Gang in the corner along with all the red state Democrats. Dare them to block a highly qualified strict constructionist And when they do .... Then what???
You really think you can get the likes of Snow or Collins voted out of office???

You are on the right track, and are far too polite. I fear, though, we are up against a gang who want a "Judge Judy" type on the USSC.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments. Hopefully we'll all come together for the next nominee...

Haven't seen you for awhile but I haven't been on here a lot either -- been busy with politics on the local level.

Was not happy with Inhofe on not supporting Coburn's bill on pork, but overall he is still a really good Senator.

In all likelihood Santorum is going to lose his re-election bid; Casey has fooled the voters into believing he is pro-life and NARAL is shrewdly giving him a "pass." Ummmm ... more like the "True Conservatives" are gonna make sure he doesn't get reelected because he didn't support Toomey
This has nothing to do with Casey, jr.

And, pray tell, by what magic do you discern who is "really" born again and who is not? You shall know the fruits of the spirit. For many, being saved is just an emotional experience. That is why so many people go through repeat salvations.
My Bible says that only God knows a man's heart.
Then you missed the part in the bible where Peter knew that something wasn't right in Simon the Magician's heart.

There's very few people who have been personally attacking Miers OR BushPlease don't insult the collective intelligence of the Freepers on this site who can actually READ and comprehend the English language.
To: PhiKapMom
this was all about a candidate that we knew very little about and what we did find out especially this week was not to our liking And the Senate had every right to vote her down if they didn't like her
