ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET
"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.
The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.
A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.
Developing...
UPDATE
ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.
More from Drudge:
CBS JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice presidents chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...
Another update from Drudge:
Indictments in CIA leak case about to be handed down
Say you might be onto something there. Find the leak and embarrass ABC at the same time.
I've been watching him salivating for over a week now. He's going to have a stroke.
But yesterday (last night) Spittin' Chrissie was sweating up a storm as he spoke. I do not want to be crass, but last night I swear he was so excited that it seemed that he may have been "working on himself" under the table. He is really getting off on all of this.
I'd love to see him the day after Fitzgerald indicts a few guys in the CIA.
;-)
"I want Bush to have 3 good years."
I do too, but I also want our country to have 3 good years.
There is a silver lining in a possible indictment of Scooter that I haven't heard discussed. It would cause the Bush administration to tack even farther right (as it is starting to do on the immigration issue ) for much needed support from his base.
If Bush is smart he will focus on our core issues and ignore the drumbeats of the media which he should be doing with or without an indictment in his administration.
Nice find!
Now- which neighbors did that info come from? Not the one Carlson had on MSNBC last night.
As much as ABC and MSNBC want to spin it, the NYT is preparing to sacrifice Judith Miller to the prosecutor.
With all the spin going on the MSM looks like the girl in the Exorcist..
That's for sure.
Who was that ABC reporter, that arrogant liitle grunt Terry Moran? I hear his nickname in the WH is "The Little Prince."
Here he is:

>>>>>It's not the neighbors, but, the friends that know the true story.<<<<<
Exactly. I live on a street of six houses. You could interview each of my five neighbors and none would be able to say where I work or what I do. What does that prove?
My nerves are shot- it's so quiet this morning..not sure what time the grand jury sits- 9ish? Fitzgerald will present whatever he has to them- then he leaves them to deliberate. This could go on for hours.
"and if there are no indictments, wouldn't spreading untruths about it be obstruction of justice?"
Probably not. But, it could be defamation.
It sure is defamation, but whether it is legally or politically actionable is another story.
I'm getting as many errands and chores done as possible this morning both to keep my mind off this perplexing case and to be ready to freep if indictments are announced today. That means a casserole will be prepared for dinner very early today so Mr. Peach doesn't suffer while I freep :-)
Have you noticed how the MSM can't say Valerie Plame (er Flame) without tacking on "covert CIA agent"? She had a desk job after Aldrich Ames. Covert my butt! Everybody in DC knew who she was - Wilson probably couldn't keep his mouth shut on the social circuit.
An uber-insider source has just reported the following to Steve Clemons of The Washington Note (since confirmed by another independent source):
1. 1-5 indictments are being issued. The source feels that it will be towards the higher end.
2. The targets of indictment have already received their letters.
3. The indictments will be sealed indictments and "filed" tomorrow.
4. A press conference is being scheduled for Thursday.
The shoe is dropping.
Exactly! It doesn't make sense. I have to believe if Rove or Libby knew they were in jeopardy, they would have "resigned to spend more time with family" after the Nov '04 election.
Moran and Gregory are despicable. Worse than Helen Thomas, at least everybody knows what she's all about and laugh at her.
If I have to explain it to you, apparently you! :-)
After I sent my comment, I read further down and saw your retraction. Consider this mine!
"Wilson probably couldn't keep his mouth shut on the social circuit."
As of just yesterday the FBI was interviewing people to see if they knew she worked for the CIA and her job description. I'm hoping that if she was considered "covert", with something everyone in the US missed, that it would be Wilson who blew her cover. He would have no defense with the "I didn't know".
