ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET

"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.

The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.

A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.

Developing...

UPDATE

ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.

More from Drudge:

CBS’ JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice president’s chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...

Who leaked to ABC News

Leaks in violation of the law seems to be of selective significance to the left.

It never ceases to amaze! I will laugh so hard if it's Wilson instead. Wishful thinking, I know.

Hmmmm? does the grand jury decide indictments ..?? I thought that was left up to the prosecutor ..??

But .. I'm thinking - the grand jury did bring the indictment against DeLay.

So .. YES, IF THE GRAND JURY MADE THE DECISION - WHOEVER TOLD ABC SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH A FELONY!

Fact: there is no such thing as an unbiased special prosecutor. Period. End of story.

Ken Starr is a very reputable man. I admire him, and in any other instance, he would probably not carry a bias as he did with Clinton. Hey, I'm saying I'm suporting what Clinton did; what I'm saying that that scandal was blown out of proportion.

Now comes Fitzgeral, who everyone this isn't biased. Bullsh*t. No matter what, and however weak, an indictment(s) was/were coming.

NO MATTER WHAT. INDICTMENTS ARE ALWAYS -- ALWAYS -- THE RESULT.

Period. End of story.

"If you aim at the King, you better kill him," or something like that.

I hope so Howlin, the president needs to come out swinging against the media and the dems.

Is this unreal or what? An (illegal) leak about an (illegal) leak probe!

I'm speechless.

My worst fear regarding this situation is realized. The White House is now under seige and , short of something dramatic occurring, will remain so for the next 3 years. Lets all say hello to President Hillary Clinton.

...or anyone who's ever obtained a Bill Clinton pardon for Marc Rich.

The WH would know if they received a target letter, that's for sure. Why would ABC bluff?
