Ted Kennedy could be used as a floatation device.

Hardly. His intentions were most likely only to martyr himself. Which tecnically would've been good for all of us.

Good for him. I applaud Senator Kennedy. Glad the two men were alright.

I'm surprised he didn't have them brought up on charges for trespassing, though they might still be when they are feeling better.......

The senator was ordered not to procede further by the Hyannis Fire Department. He was not far from the jetty (video news footage), but the waters were still treacherous. With that kind of chop, getting the men onto the boat would have been extremely risky. The fire department most likely had equipment more appropriate for that kind of rescue.

The boat was a Boston Whaler. No shit ,the Boston whale in a Boston Whaler.Boston Whalers are purported to be unsinkable. The ads for this boat used to show them cut in half and still afloat. They are great boats, still he could have only gotten 1 or 2 guys off at a time.A boat that small would probably have capsized.

I'm surprised he didn't call his friend John Kerry to come to the rescue in his swift boat. You know John Kerry was in Vietnam...

Why didn't he just drive out there and pick them up?

Those poor fishermen. Imagine being in the water and seeing something that looks like a great white whale coming towards you and saying it's going to save you...

Good for Ted. He saw he had to try, and he did; the fact that he was not successful is irrelevant.
It does seem out of character for him, but you never know, there is almost always some good in most people.
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt- I do not think that when he saw what was happening he thought, Ooh, a photo-op.

Now THAT is funny!
I was trying to picture the looks on these poor guys' faces when they realized it was Chappaquiddick Teddy coming towards them saying, "Ahhhhhh, are yah having some trouble in tha watah? Don't worry 'bout a thing. Ah will save yah."

LOL!! Fat Teddy couldn't do a thing when the Hyannis Fire Department picked the fishermen up. Too funny.

Ted Kennedy discovered a group of men stranded on a jetty today but luckily the men were able to fend him off until help arrived.
