(Chappaquiddick Ted) Kennedy tries to rescue fishermen (NOT satire)

HYANNIS, Mass. Senator Edward Kennedy attempted to rescue six men who had become trapped by high tide on a jetty off Hyannisport yesterday. The Cape Cod Times reports that Kennedy eventually left the rescue to Hyannis firefighters.

The senator was walking his two dogs on the shore at 11:15 a-m when he spotted the men cut off from shore by the rising waters.

They had been fishing on a jetty that begins at the tip of the Kennedy compound. Tides rose over the patchy rocks, make it difficult to walk back to shore.

Kennedy and a friend tried to rescue the men in a 13-foot boat but rough waters forced them back.

A crew from the Hyannis Fire Department picked them up. The men, in their 20s, were not identified. They were brought to Cape Cod Hospital with mild hypothermia.

"Kennedy and a friend tried to rescue the men in a 13-foot boat..."

How do you even fit an old, obese, alcohol drenched wreck like Kennedy into a 13 foot boat? And with a "friend"!

Plus the six men they were to rescue???

Impossible! This "news story" is nothing but BS.

The senator phoned the police later and asked if anyone found and turned in a 5th of Chivas.

I suspect he was going over there instead to tell them they were fishing of "his" jetty, and they'd best leave.

The report shown on T.V. showed him walking his dog (cameras just happened to be there), taking off in his boat (cameras just happened to get that shot), and the men stranded on the sand bar (cameras just happened to show them). Hmmmmm---- could this have been a photo-op??

................you can't make this $hit up............

You sure can't. The following is from an article published July 13, 2004.

Every few days, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy can be seen on Capitol Hill hitting tennis balls to his Portuguese water dogs, Sunny and Splash.
