(Chappaquiddick Ted) Kennedy tries to rescue fishermen (NOT satire)

HYANNIS, Mass. Senator Edward Kennedy attempted to rescue six men who had become trapped by high tide on a jetty off Hyannisport yesterday. The Cape Cod Times reports that Kennedy eventually left the rescue to Hyannis firefighters.

The senator was walking his two dogs on the shore at 11:15 a-m when he spotted the men cut off from shore by the rising waters.

They had been fishing on a jetty that begins at the tip of the Kennedy compound. Tides rose over the patchy rocks, make it difficult to walk back to shore.

Kennedy and a friend tried to rescue the men in a 13-foot boat but rough waters forced them back.

A crew from the Hyannis Fire Department picked them up. The men, in their 20s, were not identified. They were brought to Cape Cod Hospital with mild hypothermia.

And in the Trauma ward:
4 young men were being escorted to the psych wing muttering incoherently about a vision of Ted Kennedy walking towards them while they were surrounded by water.

Sure. A likely story. OTOH, how much booze was on this boat? When there's a will there's a way...

One man in a 13-foot boat in rough water is risky business. Three or more people would have been suicide. Kennedy must have either been drunk (very likely), or looking for a legacy recovery photo-op (likely).

Good for him to try. I know many who would not, and it helps my image of him some.

Kennedy and a friend tried to rescue the men in a 13-foot boat but rough waters forced them back.

With Kennedy in the boat there would not have been enough room for one additional person, let alone six.

But instead, Ted murdered her, giving no solace to her grieving parents in their old age.

Losing a child is very difficult, but losing a child to murder is perhaps the worst kind of grief one can impose on parents. I know of cases where they never recovered. They are savaged and broken by the horror of the crime, especially when the murderer was known to the family, as Ted was.
