AQ is finished in Iraq.
I can't explain it. Somebody help me. But I am simply BEYOND excited.
This is history, HISTORY. I must smile. I must cry. My husband thinks I'm nuts.
I don't care, I don't care. The sight of people just wanting to be free, go to hell, how is that EVER A BAD THING? Who are the mean-spirited people that could ever be against freedom?
I'm excited. I'm excited.
If I had bi-polar disorder, I'd be in the manic phase.
Do you think I'm nuts?
AP Reporting 5 in Bagdad out of 1200 polling locations were attacked. Saw no reports from Basra of attacks.
I'm collecting the pictures for my nephew, serving there, and his Dad. I can't get the lump out of my throat or the stinging from my eyes.
Thanks jan in Colorado.
Thanks for posting this Jan. I thought about doing it last night. He was in great spirits last night!!! Then again, he usually is. ;*)
They found me and one other child who faced a similar fate. They brought us back to the US military base in Turkey where we were brought back to the United States for adoption. The US soldiers refused to allow us to be left in that environment any longer and clutched us tight as to not allow us to be left behind for Saddam any longer
Thank you for posting that link. I don't know how I missed that after action report. Incredible story.
This can't be right....
Baghdad polling station show Yes ahead by a 2 to 1 margin. Expected turnout over 11 million.
What happened to the quagmire.....but, but, the Iraqi people don't want this!!!! hehehe:)
Proud doesn't begin to describe how you two should feel.
Collect these pictures and some of these comments for them so they can see this awesome perspective.
Well an election where the Nazis controlled the polling apparatus and most all of the political opposition had been taken into "protective custody (Murdered by the Gestapo in most cases. The Germans, some of the most stodgy people on earth, had the choice of approving the existing system or throwing it into chaos. So I guess, YES, technically it WAS an election the same way Saddam use to hold "elections"
That would disturb their daily constitution. LOL
Gimme a break. It was democracy that ELECTED the NSDAP that then turned around and forced the coalition to name him Chancellor. Don't split hairs. You know what I mean. The Nazis got 44% of the vote in 1932, and, when combined with their allies the Nationalists, had 52%. So it's perfectly legitimate to say that democracy elected Hitler, even if indirectly.
Comments across the political spectrum on the Iraqi constitutional referendum:
Joe Biden-giving cheshire cat smile-"I talked to foreign leaders in France, the Netherlands, Belgium. They all say our mission in Iraq is failing."
Chris Matthews-"Karl Rove is going to jail next week
Maxine Waters-"We understand darker skinned Iraqis had to wait longer in lines. And they ran out of purple ink."
Dick Durbin-"The terrorists are winning."
Chris Matthews-"Karl Rove testified before the Grand Jury for four hours yesterday. You tell me."
Nancy Pelosi-"There is no guarantee of same-sex marriage in this new Iraqi constitution."
Harry Reid-"This President is a failure."
Chris Matthews-"Karl Rove NOT guaranteed he won't be indicted."
Ted Kennedy-"We must get out of Iraq NOW"
Cindy Sheehan-"It's all a sham. My son died for nothing."
Chris Matthews-"Will Bush fire Karl Rove when he's indicted?"
You didn't ask me...but NO! I think you are a great American and that you care about oppressed peoples of the world!
Me either.
I must be nuts.
Try 1932. The Nazis steadily increased their vote totals in 28, 30, and 32, by which time they had 44% (more than Clinton in 1992). With the "Conservative" party, they had 52% in a coalition, which, as you correctly (but irrelevantly) note, "appointed" Hitler. The fact that he personally didn't win a slate is completely irrelevant, and totally nit-picking. It was democracy that gave Weimar Republic Hitler, and those who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it.
Believe me...my son and thousands of others in our military are happy today!!!
I'm proud of 'em, you bet:) It's a goose bump day!
No, it was poverty and the allowing of unfettered militias.
Ever since WWII we have seen that fact that democracies seldom invade each other. Read The Pentagon's New Map.
