I read the advertisement in the Union-Tribune for the annual Miramar Air Show Oct. 14, 15 and 16, and my jaw dropped in disbelief.
I just don't understand how the Blue Angels can justify fueling and flying these jets in their annual celebration given President Bush's plea to Americans to cut back on fuel usage.
Surely there is something better that can be done with our military manpower other than a boastful display of flying skills, like perhaps airlifting supplies and materials to aid the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Am I missing something here? Perhaps the thunder that we'll feel and hear when the Blue Angels fly overhead will be the sounds of the gods crying.

If Sylvia was truly worried about the conservation of prescious resources, she would have written this letter in a smaller font.

The author wouldn't be complaining if Clinton did it. In fact, when Clinton held up the LA airport while he was getting a haircut I bet she thought that was cute.

The difference between this b**ch and the Blue Angel jets is that when the jet engine shuts down it quits whining.

I was at the airshow in Salinas, Ca a few weeks back. They had two Hornets there. They took them right up to the sound barrier. You could see the cone form around the aircraft. It was the coolest thing I have every seen.
The best sound was the F-15 flying over with the afterburners on.

This truly does reveal the bias of the liberal mind. Liberals love THEIR symbols... A few examples: Newpaper reporters make up "composite" people who are nothing more than Dickensian symbols of evil capitalism. Liberals love huge aid packages and fund raising concerts that really don't do a thing to stop poverty in Africa but instead enrich dictatorial thugs. Liberals love United Nations type organizations that contribute more to the problem by validating criminals and dictators to statesmanlike status. They love useless cars that get 50 miles per gallon but can't be used for much more than moving very few people from one public housing project to the next.
The Blue Angels are a symbol of American might, skill and expertise in defending our country in a world filled with fascism, tyranny and terrorism. I do wish they'd show a little respect for a symbol of what is held dear by many Amnericans.

Yes Sylvia, by the wisdom of the goddess mother, I too was hoping the Blue Angels would do a little "Hammer of Thor" demo on that target rich environment of looters in New Orleans.....

No doubt about that. I saw the Thunderbirds on Labor Day weekend and it is impressive. Between that and mock bombing runs that shook my car, I'm glad that we're not on the receiving end.

The best sound was the F-15 flying over with the afterburners on.I get chills thinking about that. I was in an ADA missle unit back in the Army days. We had Tomcats from Whidbey Island, when they were still there, go against us once in a while for training. They'd treat us to some high speed flyovers after we "shot them down." Just incredible.
