Chrissy just loves the guy.
The caterwalling from the self proclaimed omnipotents in the beltway, IMO, is probably of great humor to them.
You forget that the caterwalling is also coming from Senators in his own party. I doubt Bush is yucking it up when knowing that his own party, which has its share of spineless RINOs, might weaken him by not supporting Miers.
When members of his own party are leaning toward shunning the President and prioritizing the pundit's negative prose, I guarantee you he is concerned or at least disappointed. Its no secret that loyalty and trust is #1 with this President.
Good post Miss Marple.
Probably very close to the truth here.
No one would ever accuse Kristol of loyalty. Not to principles or associates.
Subjective stuff:
Is she articulate?
Does she have a genuine sense and skill for the nuances of reflection and expression?
Does she have what you believe is a composed and solid judicial temperament?
Does she give confidence she understands the evolution of Constitutional Law? Will she appropriately reconcile her understanding with the original understanding of the framers and founders?
Stuff like that there . . .
I suspect that Burglar's statement will be on tape and not in person.
I see. Conservatives support the GOP politically and financially for many years because the Court is so important to them. Many of these people gave more than their money and time, they gave their hearts in campaigns, voting drives, and even manning phone banks.
Bush makes a terrible choice, and your response is basically "Let them eat cake!"
In fact, according to you, they are "maroons" and should not even be able to have an opinion.
Good grief. Listen to yourself.
Yeah, but to those of us in CA that are not liberal, it is a very scary decision. If a blue state has laws on the books that do not benefit the people of that state, what recourse do the people have?
We are currently fighting the biased ruling of a judge that has overturned the will of the people here in San Diego with her ruling on the Mount Soledad Cross issue. This is why I mention the Kelo decision.
Plenty of them do. Hey, Miers might turn out to be to left of Ginsburg, but she also might write the majority opinion that overturns Roe. It is maddening to see all of the experts claiming "Bush has trashed his base" or "he is no conservative", when they dont know a thing. Right or wrong, stealth or not, NO ONE KNOWS A THING, so quit professing to and driving the wedge. The very behavior we decry DU for, is happening right here on FR of late..
Just heard Kristol's comment on Miers stepping aside. Any respect for Kristol I had is fading.
Brit puts into a perspective that's correct. Go Brit!
The MSM definitely does NOT want a hispanic on the bench unless it's someone appointed by the left.
Im glad Im not the only one who sees Kristol for what he is..
But where have Maxwell Wilson Smart and Agent 99 Plame been? Why aren't they posing for Vanity Fair once more, now that the case is heating up again?
Thanks for the info. which I don't know many of it before.
You formed an opinion from from the delivery of Roberts during that hearing? That is Amazing. Roberts answers and his prose were scripted. I thought we all knew that these hearings were nothing but a shame. And now they will be the basis for the nations opinion on Miers? How she responses to Ted Kennedy?
I give up what's a bubba walk?
I've got a darned good idea of her beliefs (and even why she changed parties) and can tell you three things that'll probably happen during the hearings:
1:She'll be advised to remain silent on her positions on issues to avoid Borking 2: At some point she's going to break that silence because her views have never been kept secret before and 3: All H#LL will break loose when conservative knee jerkers realize they helped the Dems Bork the next Bork and Democrats have apopoxlexies over her 100 percent pro-life record.
