For those with HBO (and who can stomach Maher's nauseating spiel), Coulter will be on with Andrew Sullivan, and... Ben Affleck! Ahem. Anyway...
That's for sure. As a matter of fact, they won't let her get away.
"civil people"
Did you read my comments on civility earlier in the thread?
---Sweet Moses! What is it with you people?---
:^)
"Well if you compare Miers accomplishments in the legal field to Ann Coulters"
But nobody is. Ann Coulter isn't putting herself forward as more qualified; she's saying that others were more qualified.
"It was an ugly personal attack. Ugly and gratuitous."
Ugly is subjective; I won't dispute your opinion there. However, I would call it "to the point" rather than gratuitous.
Pray for W and Harriet Miers
Hey! I drive a Volvo! Of course, it still has its Bush/Cheney bumper sticker and an American flag decal with "Freedom Isn't Free" on it, so maybe it's not really a Volvo.
The elitist underbelly of the republican party has been exposed with the Miers nomination....I had my doubts about Miers too but now, may she go on to confirmation as the next supreme court justice....and may the thurston howell's on the right gain a little humility....it will be good for them, in the short run, and especially in the long run.
"when you just repeated the cleaning lady line?"
Excuse me? I *quoted* the cleaning lady line.
"Is that your idea of civility?"
If you read my earlier posts, you will have your answer.
Pray, rather, for our nation, its people, and its Constitution. Public servants including Bush and Miers are subordinate to these greater causes.
We need to place the strongest, brightest, most talented, experienced, and dedicated right-thinking Americans on the Supreme Court that we can find to battle the left for this nation's soul.
The best Miers give us is a vote. We needed more.
" Laura Ingram seems to have decided on the same sorta path"
Please list what tv shows that Laura has appeared on regarding this issue?
I listen to her show every night, and she says she's gotten all sorts of calls to appear on TV about this. She didnt do it, she's busy with other things including treating her CANCER.
Your assertion of comparing her to Ann is absolutely FALSE.
I am beginning to suspect that Ann may still be boozing it up here in the 2000s.
You are certainly entitled to agree with her belief that Bush owes the intellegentsia who toiled away twenty to thirty years before he got here, a big fat reward (which Coulter is not embarrassed to admit should be someone from an elite university).
I doubt many agree with the notion that only graduates from elite universities are skilled enough to deal with the devil. Normal people have plenty of experience, believe it or not.
If Miers is rejected, maybe she'll come tidy up for Ms. Coulter, starting at her mouth with a bar of soap.
What a great quote! I think it's a good thing that Pres. Bush nominated a real world, practicing attorney to the Supreme Court. She is a person who has actually had to live with the consequences of the men-in-black-robes' decisions.
"and may the thurston howell's on the right gain a little humility....it will be good for them, in the short run, and especially in the long run."
I don't think that's accurate. I'm no Thurston Howell, and neither are most of those who think that Bush has failed to hold strongly to conservative principles.
Ann Coulter needs to bump heads with Maureen Dowd. Both are adept at verbally scratching people's eyes out.
" It's no more a stretch than Bush staring wide-eyed at a television camera and saying, without smirking or laughing at loud, that Miers was the "best qualified" person he could find to nominate."
He means he knows she's qualified and he believes in her ability. Just exactly like he believes in Cheney and Condi.
Pray for W and Harriet Miers
Pray for W and Harriet Miers
That would be the "normal Americans" Coulter referred to, who (according to her) believe the devil is abstract, unlike the elite grads who deal with the devil every day.
I wonder how much of the devil she leaves out of her books? And how she gauges the level of abstraction her readers can handle? :-)
Laura Ingram seems like a genuinely nice and balanced person on the radio. I view Coulter like a circus freak...good for a couple of laughs and nothing more.
Now we're getting somewhere!
