ROBERT BORK CALLS THE HARRIET MIERS NOMINATION "A DISASTER" ON TONIGHT'S "THE SITUATION WITH TUCKER CARLSON"
SECAUCUS, NJ - October 7, 2005 - Tonight on MSNBC's "The Situation with Tucker Carlson," former judge and Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork tells Tucker Carlson the Harriet Miers' nomination is "a disaster on every level," that Miers has "no experience with constitutional law whatever" and that the nomination is a "slap in the face" to conservatives.
Following is a transcript of the conversation, which will telecast tonight at 11 p.m. (ET). A full transcript of the show will be available later tonight at www.tv.msnbc.com. "The Situation with Tucker Carlson" telecasts Monday through Friday at 11 p.m. (ET).

As much as I like Judge Bork, it is disappointing to see him make such decisive statements without allowing Miers to be subjected to hearings and questions. Shouldn't a judge have all the facts before making a decision?
LOL, so Bork want to Bork her? Wow, I wish conservatives were this hard on our enemies!
Yet another "barking moonbat" joins the ranks of Schlafly, Steyn, Noonan, Krauthammer, Will, Frum, Norquist, Weyrich, Coulter, Levin, Bauer, Malkin, Goldberg, Kristol, Savage, Hannity, Limbaugh, Ingraham, Novak, Buchanan, the Eagle Forum, Operation Rescue, the National Review, the Cato Institute et al! How dare they question the wisdom of the Miers nomination?!
I don't. We talk about work, lunch, the weather. No one has ever said to me "how do you feel about abortion."
If you are going to use Bork as the yardstick by which all nominees are to be measured in terms of intellect, and Constitutional expertize, then all nominees are going to come up short. If you doubt me, just ask Mr. Bork.
PS: Before you rip me as being anti-Bork, please take a look at my profile.
Given what the best and the brightest lawyers have done to the Constitution of the United States in the past 65 years, I'd have to think long and hard about that one if the brain surgeons had laid waste to a number of brains in the same manner the geniuses have laid waste to the constitution.
My thoughts exactly.
Nah, it's just called "conservatives holding each other accountable". You may want to get used to it.
Ironic, isn't it? A man who couldn't get himself on the Court, calling her a disaster.
No decent person could possibly do that.
This is one of the main reasons BUSH could not nominate a Brown or Estrada. The Senate would have wimped out on him.
Specter balked way before the Roberts nomination even begun. With supporters like the GOP Senators why does BUSH need enemies?
But these DC types are genetically just unable to keep themselves out of the public eye.
He was nominated for the SC by a dignified man, President Reagan. Unfairly or not, he didn't pass muster. That being said, too bad some of Ronnies's dignity didn't rub off on him.

I believe you but do you have a source for this?
All boils down to that they are upset with what they don't know about her.
We'll at least the one that needs to know (BUSH), does know and is sure she will not be another Souter
"But the other level is more worrisome, in a way: it's kind of a SLAP IN THE FACE to the conservatives who've been building up a conservative legal movement for the last 20 years."
Bobo: I agree with Bork. The nominee should have been a SLAP IN THE FACE to liberal rats.
Blessings, Bobo
Thanks for posting.
I have a theory - and that is that Bush is naming a moderate (who is really conservative) knowing she will appear moderate, trying to sucker another of the supremes to retire ......
I also think that Bush takes the presidency seriously, and thinks that she may be the best for the country - maybe not the best for conservatives - but for the country.
I'm very impressed with Borks observations. Well-thought out, well-spoken. The Bush-bots won't get it. Sick of both the left and the right.
Yarddog - you're making stuff up.
Not an exact quote but close: "I don't agree with her on some issues but think she will make an excellent justice".
