Update 2: Confederate Yankee is live-blogging the NYC event. One thing I noticed, though on the clip he posted from ABC is that they've apparently changed the text of the 5th paragraph since he posted it:
According to sources in intelligence, emergency services and police headquarters, when three Iraqi insurgents were arrested several days ago during a raid by a joint FBI-CIA team, one of those caught disclosed the threat. Because it slipped out during the arrest, the plot was deemed credible.
...now says:
According to sources in intelligence, emergency services and police headquarters, the intelligence community developed information that the threat may have involved pharmacists from Iraq coming to New York for some kind of chemical attack targeting the subways. Three insurgents, one or more of whom are pharmacists, were arrested during a raid by a U.S. military and intelligence community team, sources said, and one of those caught disclosed the threat. Because it slipped out during the arrest, the plot was deemed credible.
First, it's much more significant with the specific information about the pharmacists and possible chemical attack.
Second, it's interesting how they removed the reference to the "joint FBI-CIA" team's success in capturing these guys and getting this information. Afterall, if Jamie Gorelick were still in charge, they would've never been working together, much less sharing any information. Wow... CY just posted his update that noted the exact same thing. Great minds!

We are watching our grandkids for a few days. We went out to eat this evening and as we pulled into our carport looking west in the N California sky, the crescent moon and Venus were bright in the sky as the sun had just set.
My wife who reads the CIA MI6 anti terrorist best sellers as fast as they come out made the same comment that you did after we saw the Crescent Moon and Venus just after sunset.

Crescent moon near Venus
Venus shines brightly above the southwest horizon after sunset Wednesday. The new moon is a waxing crescent that might be seen after sunset and before 7:30 p.m. to the lower right of Venus. Sighting the first appearance of a waxing crescent is always a challenge at the beginning of a new lunar month.
Interesting that Hinrich's car had an atlas in the front seat... I generally don't keep an atlas in my car unless I'm going somewhere that I'm not familiar with. Where was Hinrich going, and why did he have explosives in his car & apartment? Maybe the page for NYC was dog-eared in his atlas...
Why would he need an atlas anyway? And why wasn't it in the glove compartment? And why were there explosives in his trunk? I suppose there'll be another email from Boren addressing these things and explaining that the guy was really, really depressed.

The latest info at the site is explosive (pardon the pun), and I have no doubt it is true. All the pieces are falling into place. The goings-on in Norman are a cancer that has been growing for the past fourteen years, and it needs to be excised.
I don't think we just so happened to capture someone in Iraq who knew about upcoming bombing plot. The information on NYC was culled from Joel Hinrich's computer... the timing matches perfectly with the seizure of his computer/documents... however, if the media wants me to believe we found a needle in a haystack in iraq who knew something about a bomb plot, I guess I will fall in line.
The more likely train of events would be that the emails on Hinrich's computer were back-traced to Iraq, where a special FBI-CIA team lead a raid...said raid captured the right computer there, which had emails going to NYC...hence, the terror alert there.
The OU bomber was too low on the food chain to have the NYC emails...but his computer would have yielded the necessary clues (presuming that the press didn't blow the case too soon) to get to the Zarqawi communicator in Iraq.

The tip that triggered the massive security sweep came from two al Qaeda militants arrested this week in a joint FBI-CIA-U.S. military raid outside Baghdad, law-enforcement sources told The Post.
The terrorists were described as unemployed chemists who had recently taken a six-week explosive training course in Afghanistan.
The al Qaeda snitches also told U.S. officials that they planned to travel to New York, by way of Syria, with bogus passports.
Once here, they would meet up with 19 operatives who had already been sent to New York to help set off the bombs, the sources said.
The bombs would either be hidden in baby carriages or planted in briefcases similar to those used in this summer's London bus and train bombings.
Interesting aside - today is the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto (1571), which drove the Turks out of Vienna. It is seen by Muslims as a great and decisive defeat in their plans to overrun Europe, and I think Osama mentioned Lepanto in one of his ravings.
The muzzies are very fond of returning to a date where they weren't successful in the past and attempting to take a second stab at it. I wonder if their attacks had been timed for today, Oct. 7, because of Lepanto.
I would imagine this was written earlier in the year. Beheadings stopped quickly and they probably hatched their Ramadan plan with this imprimatur from Zawahiri.
