I see you've been here since 1998 and I do respect you for being a long-time freeper, however I don't think it's fair for you to jump on penelopesire for this as she has contributed a great deal to our investigations up to this point...

As far as the time of the explosion itself;

There are several different times reported according to the AP and other sources in a variety of different news articles I have saved and printed out - 7:20 being one of them... as well as 7:45, and just before 8:00pm.

Just because you googled a certain time and nothing came up doesn't mean much. Don't jump on someone because your initial "searching" didn't turn anything up. In case you haven't noticed it's not like there's a bevy of information available online through a WEB SEARCH at this point and there are certainly no articles titled "Norman Bombing" which is one of the points we've been making rather numerously on these threads.

Seriously?!?! That is frightening (roommate out of the country now)............I can't believe they wouldn't have been seriousy watching him...he obviously knew what was up (even if his roll was solely...and not saying that to minimize it...just as 'versus being an active participant in it...which is my real hunch)...he obviously couldn't have overlooked the massive amounts of things reported to be in the apt...along with all the other red flags...Unreal that they might have let him go...unless it was to get him to lead them to others.........still....oh man...........afraid to keep reading!!!

I've heard local LEOs don't often get much help from the FEDS in any agency - and when they do come in they just "take over". I feel sorry for the Norman PD at this point - they might be just as frustrated as we are. I don't suppose the FBI and other Federal agencies share enough info with the locals...

Conflicting reports at this time regarding whether the roommate was allowed to return to his apartment and is refusing interviews (reported yesterday) or if he's indeed MIA (reported yesterday and again today).

Just out of curiosity, what is a "ping list"? I see the term here and there, but don't know exactly what it is.

Do you not get on one of these automatically? I have been quite active on these OU bombing threads since the start, but I take it that doesn't get one on these lists? What do they do?

I have a place at the top of my forum pages that says "Pings" and I click it and nothing happens. This is a 700+ post thread on the topic I am researching and I've been sitting and refreshing the main thread, which is where I keep my FR page open. Nothing much was going on.

Would a "ping" have happened to me while I was sitting there, if I had been on this "ping list"? Is that what it does? Does it turn red like the mail and "new posts" headers do, so I know I have one?

No, there is no bias here:

• According to this intrepid reporter, Joel Jihad was "supposedly" carrying a bomb (That's right, folks. Aliens zotted him from the sky. That clearly explains the explosion. /sarc)
• OKC's Channel 5 does not mention a word about the depressed student committing suicide theory they were pushing till yesterday!! No retraction either.
• As FReeper falconjet0900 points out: Ashraf Hussein, the president of OU's Muslim Student Association, said things that he did not say (see post #715).
• The ticket to Algeria was apparently in preparation for the guy's spring break. No mention from the wonderful Channel 5 reporters on this important detail either.
• Despite all this, the authorities questioned seven of his friends who were all incidently muslims.

My theories at present about this are that they were suspects who were involved in the bombing itself (makes sense if it went off at the wrong time) and that the story about them was pulled in order not to tip people off that they had been caught - at least that's what I'm hoping for. OR (more likely) they are in hiding. Perhaps the 5 injured tip was from LEOs alerting the hospital to be on the lookout for injured persons possibly involved?

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A University of Oklahoma student accused of transporting an explosive device into Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City last week is still enrolled and could begin classes at the Norman campus next Monday.

OU public affairs vice president Catherine Bishop confirmed Tuesday aviation senior Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr. is still a student. Dreyling is one semester away from completing an aviation management degree, according to his lawyer Kent Eldridge.

Bishop would not comment on whether the university was instituting its own disciplinary proceedings against Dreyling, as outlined in the OU student code handbook.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security documents obtained by The Transcript detail on Aug. 11, federal agents searched Dreyling's Norman residence. In the residence, the memo states, agents found "gunpowder, carbon dioxide cartridges and wires" as well as a computer with a video of detonation of a device similar to the one transported into the airport Aug. 10."

"Ex-Oklahoma U. Student Could Be Responsible for Attacks"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(U-WIRE) NORMAN, Okla. — Federal authorities investigating last week’s terrorist attacks are looking into a former University of Oklahoma student detained by immigration officials in Norman, Okla., Sept. 11.

Hussein Al-Attas has been transferred to a facility in New York, and the FBI is investigating his connection to another man detained in Minnesota.

The Immigration and Naturalization Service detained Al-Attas the day of the attacks, but he may have had a previous run-in with the INS on a trip to Minnesota this summer, said Mitchell Gray, a Norman attorney who practices immigration law.

The FBI is investigating Al-Attas because he may have driven Zacarias Moussaoui to Minnesota this summer. The INS detained Moussaoui Aug. 17 after his flight instructor became suspicious of his requests for training on jet simulators.

French intelligence officials tell the FBI that Moussaoui is a high-ranking operative in Osama bin Laden’s terrorist organization, according to published reports.

Moussaoui trained at Airman Flight School from February to May 29 and left without warning and without getting his pilot’s license, said Dale Davis, the school’s director of operations.

Al-Attas never contacted Airman, Gray said.

A person close to Al-Attas called Gray on Sunday to ask for help, saying Al-Attas had driven a man to Minnesota, the attorney said.

Al-Attas let Moussaoui live with him at one point, according to a member of the Islamic Society of Norman. Al-Attas often prays at the mosque and teaches classes on good character at an Islamic school, the member said.

Al-Attas was held in the Garvin County Jail in Pauls Valley, Okla., where the INS has a jail contract, until early this week when he was moved to Oklahoma City for transfer to New York.

A court record lists Al-Attas as a co-defendant with Muzahr Abduliqaadir in an action brought by Oklahoma Investment Group, the owners of Summer Pointe apartments.

A Summer Pointe maintenance man, who wished to be identified only as Jerry, said the tenants broke their lease and left without warning on Sept. 10."
