Well, since it's obvious that the only things we know about her are ON THESE THREADS, I'll hold off slitting my wrists until at least lunchtime.

Because on its face it is awful and I don't see any mitigating facts to make this pick deserve the benefit of the doubt.

You don't see any FACTS at all on these threads; just people like you, setting their hair on fire, hoping for some doom and gloom to bash Bush with.

What's the problem with this pick??

S/he was not consulted with and the Dems don't have any ammunition ...

Bush's fault

The agenda continues right on schedule as it has since 1929. Conspiracy trivia question: Why 1929?

Probably had something to do with the stock market crash.

Yep. Exactly. At this point in time, I would like to see more about who loves her, who hates her, and what HER views are on a variety of issues.

If she's seriously Christian, that is a good from my POV...

I'd bet my bottom dollar that a lot of these so-called conservatives with their over the top emotional outbursts are regulars on DU.....

Gotta always remember that some significant percentage of FR posts are by undercover DU trolls trying to sap our morale - part of the fun, rough and tumble world of FR - but always bear this in mind.

It may be hysteria, but understandable.

Hysteria is never understandable. Whining has become the standard fare around here, along with all talk, no do.

No need to hit the Dims over the head out of pure meanness when he can sail Miers through with their approval, and have a justice that HE KNOWS how she stands MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OF THE DIMS. The Dims might be getting played here!

You know the whole reason that the Senate must confirm nominees was to aovid cronyism. Well, if we can find one thing the rats can't stand about her...we can get the rats to vote against her. And then we can get a few real Republican's to vote against her based on not being well qualified.

I know it's a stretch, but a lot can happen. If the bloggers turn up one good piece of dirt...then that can turn the tide.

This is SOOOO DEPRESSING!!!!!!

I'm just shocked and disappointed in George Bush.

Luttig and Williams were available. We could have had a textualist court.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Just found this on Google about Sarah Hughes:

As a
federal judge she presided over the three-judge panel that overturned Texas's abortion laws in a decision upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade, a decision that has rocked American society and politics to this day. Indomitable Sarah is an energetic, well-researched biography that shows the many dimensions of this
important figure in Texas' history as well as the nation's.

Doesn't sound good if this was the lady Miers clerked for.

This is just another reason not to like this pick when you consider who he could have nominated.

Can't have someone from outside of Texas nominated can we? There are 49 other states in the union populated by good people but Bush doesn't know this.

Now, that she's reportedly 60, single, Christian, and some kind of active in Exodus International, really does raise some interesting changes about how many and which changes she's personally experienced.

Hmmm...that's an interesting implication.
