Looks like he took the advice of Ruth Buzzy Ginzburg. All of us who predicted Bush would screw us on this pick were vindicated. And to all the idiots who gave us grief; how do feel now?

For now, I will withold judgment on Miers until more is known about her. Since she has personally known Bush and been a close confidant since the mid-80's, I would imagine he knows EXACTLY how she feels about most hot-button issues. When people were expecting Scalia or Thomas clones for the court, I think most were expecting clones in certain issues, while it may be that Miers is more of a strict constitutionalist and may believe that decisions about certain issues (see: ABORTION) are best left to individual states. In that sense, she would certainly fit the Scalia/Thomas mold. If we were expecting someone to come out swinging no matter what was said, like Scalia and Thomas sometimes do, I don't know that Miers is of that mold.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. On the plus side, with little background in hot-button issues, she has little for the dims to pick her apart on. I doubt seriously that she is, as some have suggested, not the first choice, but rather the choice to expose the dims and let them hang themselves, with the REAL candidate in the wings once she is shot down/pulls her name. Bush doesn't play games so I doubt he would with this.

Regardless, it shoudl be an interesting confirmation.

When you want a personal interview with each judge who may be nominated to see what their views are, you can run for President yourself. In the meantime, I voted for President Bush because I trusted his judgment to defend our country and govern us.

I didn't catch the whole context but W just mentioned her work with Exodus International. If that's the case, you know the libs are going to have a major hissy fit.

I just heard this on the radio on my way home from the gym and I thought to myself, "Isn't that the group that....?" I couldn't believe that was what I was hearing, but it's true! I imagine this is going to make BIG news when everyone figures it out. :-)

If she is a strict constructionist, you can't find a right to abortion in the Constitution. Only liberals do that. She's a conservative constructionist. I think we will be okay.

Texas at the time, like all southern states was a one-party system. Maybe her donation to Al Gore was more for business purposes than for political beliefs. That's how democrats operate, after all, donate to us or you are our enemy.

Yes, I knew there were several. I was just trying to keep the poster from committing suicide over the fact that Miers didn't have previous judicial experience.
